Nest Connect Will Not Reset - Only Flashes Yellow

This was posted before with no solution - I’ve reset the lock 3x… Nest Connect won’t factory reset, app says there is still info on it.

When my Nest Connect is unplugged, it blinks yellow and does not connect to my Yale lock. It also doesn't connect to the lock when it is plugged in.

Process is:

1) while it's plugged in, it is solid green,

2) the lock was not working, so I went through the troubleshooting process outlined in the app,

3) per the instructions, I unplugged the Connect and pressed the button,

4) it flashed blue once,

5) it turned green for about 1 second then turned off,

6) it flashes yellow from then on.

This yellow flashing is not in the troubleshooting instructions as an option. What does it mean, and what do I do?

Hi @DP81,

You're right, encountering a situation not covered in the troubleshooting guide can be frustrating. Here are some things you've likely tried, but let's go through them systematically along with some additional solutions:

Possible Causes and Solutions:

  1. Incomplete Factory Reset: The yellow blinking might indicate an incomplete factory reset on the Nest Connect. Here's a refined attempt:

    • Hold the button for much longer: Instead of a quick press, hold the button for at least 10 seconds while it's unplugged. It should turn solid yellow, then release the button when it does.
  2. App Cache/Data: Outdated app data might be causing issues. Try:

    • Clear App Cache: (Instructions will vary depending on your phone model) Look for Settings > Apps and locate the Nest app. Try clearing the app cache first and see if it resolves the issue.
    • Reinstall App (Last Resort): If clearing the cache doesn't work, consider reinstalling the Nest app as a last resort. Remember to back up any important settings or routines before reinstalling.
  3. Network Issues: A weak Wi-Fi signal or network glitches could be hindering communication.

    • Restart Router/Modem: A simple restart of your router and modem can sometimes resolve temporary network issues.
    • Check Wi-Fi Strength: Ensure your Nest Connect has a strong Wi-Fi signal. A weak connection can cause pairing problems.
  4. Hardware Issues: If none of the above solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with your Nest Connect.

    • Contact Nest Support: Reach out to Google Nest Support. They can provide further troubleshooting steps or replacement options if necessary.

If for some reason you still have the same issue you can call our customer service line for further assistance.

Regards,

Mario.
