Nest Yale Lock can’t add guests

I’ve been unable to add guest codes for more than a year.  My iPhone iOS is updated and I uninstalled and reinstalled the Nest app.

What are troubleshooting next steps you guys would recommend?

Based on other people’s success of deleting products within your Nest app and re-adding. I added back Nest Connect back successfully. Now it won’t add the Yale Lock back. It gets stuck on this screen, I get no blue light - checked batteries and made sure it was awake and did it about a dozen times and gets stuck here. The Nest Connect is connected to WiFi and the lock was connected before deleted from the app earlier. It’s within range of WiFi.

Hi there!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you’ve been experiencing with your Nest x Yale Lock. I understand that you were unable to add guests, and when trying to fix the issue, you removed the device from the Nest App but are no longer able to add it back to the app, and you are getting stuck on the screen that you shared. No worries, I’m happy to help you find a solution.

Here are some questions for you:

  • What’s the color of the light on the device?
  • How far is the device from the router?
  • Are there devices that could be creating interference between the device and the Nest Connect?
  • Can you connect the internet to other devices?

In the meantime, here are some extra steps that you can try:

  • Reboot the Nest Connect.
    • Hold the wake button down for around eight seconds or until the LED pulses blue.
      • If the Nest Connect is paired, the LED will slowly pulse blue once.
      • If the Nest Connect is not paired, the LED will quickly pulse blue repeatedly.
    • Once the LED begins to pulse blue, release the button. Holding it down longer will bring up the prompt for a factory reset.
    • Try to set up the Nest x Yale Lock again.
  • If still having the same issue, please factory reset the Nest Connect.
    • Hold the wake button down for 13 seconds or until the LED turns solid yellow.
    • Once the LED turns a solid yellow, continue to hold down the wake button for another 10 seconds. If the button is released before the 10 seconds are up, the factory reset will fail.
      • To cancel, press the button again.
    • After 10 seconds, release the button. The LED will stop, and the settings will now be erased. There will also be a notification that the Nest Detect and/or Nest x Yale Lock are offline.
    • Remove the Nest Connect and set it up again.
  • And also factory reset the Nest x Yale Lock and try again.

Note: Once you get to the same screen that you sent, press and hold the button on the Nest x Yale Lock during the entire set-up process.

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.

hello to all!! I had the same problem!! looked into every blog and called more than twise to the help desk (google) with no success at all....

FINALLY!!! today i was able to fix it!!!

If you are like me that used to have a Nest house alarm in your NEST account/APP , you need to :

Open Nest app

go to settings

Remove all the sensors and the nest home alarm (Remove device).

Reboot your NEst app

go again to the NEst X Yale  icon

select family & Guest

NOW you should be able to edit your current passcodes and add more users/passcodes.

Good luck / buena suerte

Thank you!!!!  You are brilliant. This solved my problem, too!

Just in case this helps others, here was my situation:

1) I had the old Nest Home Alarm that was discontinued.

2) I had left it in my account.

3) Within the Yale lock, I have been unable to add new users, and unable to view the passcodes of existing users.

After removing the alarm (instructions above), I was immediately able to perform both actions in #3 above.

Thank you!
