Next/Yale lock icon not showing on Nest app

HI all -

So I installed a Nest/Yale lock on my condo.  Locking/Unlocking works manually, and when I punch in my code on the keypad.  I did pair up the nest app (Iphone) through the Connect dongle.  

the howto video explains there's a lock icon on the nest app, that you press+hold for a bit.  

I don't see any such "lock icon" on my app.

One other detail:  I don't have Wifi set up yet for the home.  Is that a required component for the Nest App to fully work?

Yes, you must have WiFi.

I think I see a problem with just using Wifi:  what if the lock is put into a new place, and there's no wifi yet?  I would have thought the app would work through BT first.

My wifi case is a little different (for now):  it's my phone's hotspot AP.

   I wouldn't mind talking to a high-level tech directly about the issue I'm seeing.  I'm a little surprised that there doesn't seem to be a use-case where Wifi is not part of the equation (yet, or if ever Wifi conks out at home).

try to repeat the process. you will find that lock icon up there.
