Yale lock will not connect to the nest connect

Bobbo747
Community Member

I have the nest connect/ Yale lock, have had it for close to two years, I changed internet providers, I reset the passcode fo the nest connect, it is showing the green light it will not connect to lock.

I have tried the troubleshooting suggestions, moving the nest connect closer to lock- tool out batteries waited 20 seconds- did a factory reset with new master code. In the end it is the same results,

my phone shows both the nest connect and lock trying to communicate then the message something went wrong appears.

Any help, I would so much appreciate.

Thanks,

Bob

I am having the same issue and I have just gotten the new lock.  It's been one of the most frustrating experience.

My Nest Connect is fine.  My Wi-Fi signal strength is fine.

So I really don't know what's going on...

Same issue here. Yes please.

Hi Brad,

No, it was not resolved.

I ended up speaking to a Google Nest Support who said it is a problem with my Nest Connect.   They are now issuing an RMA so I will update when I get it.

Same issue here.  I have had my lock for a few years now and recently it would just randomly be offline even though every thing else is connected fine.  I move to a nest mesh network and I could not get the lock to connect to the nest connect.  I had no issue getting the nest connect to connect to my wifi either.  The Yale lock will just not connect.

I'm running into a similar issue with my Lock. I just upgraded my Router and it will connect for about 90-120 min but then it disconnects. I've reset everything 3 times now. Nest connect is seen in the router so I know that it is connected.

Same issue.

I also have the same issue with the lock not pairing with Nest Connect. When I try and press the button on the back of the lock nothing happens, no light pulses no it's ready from the lock.

When I press and hold the button on the lock it toggles privacy mode on and off.

I just did a factory reset of the nest yale lock and everything now works again.

Would you mind explaining how to do that? Thank you.

I did that but still doesn't work

Hey folks,

It looks like this may be an issue with the Nest Connect from what I can see from the issues you guys are having. Go over this Troubleshooting Guide for the Nest Connect. As for resetting your Yale lock, I would definitely suggest Restarting it, or even Factory Resetting it and setting it up again. You can learn how to reset your Yale Lock here. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Brad.

But if the nest connect is fine and it connects to my network. Where would the issue be?

I am having the same issue with a new lock. I have already factory reset multiple times and gone through the other troubleshooting techniques. As a use above described, when I try the press the button on the back of the lock nothing happens, I hear a chirp, but no light pulses & no it's ready from the lock.

I am having the same issue, my IOS Nest App will not display the lock/no control.  Reset the Nest Connect did not help.  Any advice?

Hey folks,

Try setting up the Nest Connect on a 2.4Ghz wifi signal without password protection, and then once its been added, it should be good and you can set up some protection. I would also make sure that you have first restarted, and/or Factory Reset your devices first before trying this. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Brad.

Brad, still having issues. How do I get a 2.4Ghz wifi connection without password protection? Is this a feature of Google fiber?

@Cambino

I unfortunately know nothing about Google Fiber, I am only present in these Nest Community Forums. I would suggest you reach out to your ISP for further instruction on how to set up your wifi so you can connect your lock to it if your Nest Connect is not working. Also, I would contact support to see if you may have a faulty Nest Connect.

Best regards,

Brad.

Thanks, Brad. I called in to Google. Yale is replacing the lock. Hopefully a new model does not have the same issue.

I have experienced these same problems of Connect not syncing with Next lock. I have done the factory rest…etc.  Is there another way to connect the lock to WiFi without Connect?  The Connect seems unstable and to unreliable for this application.

@mrprice

Have you seen this article on How to Update Wi-fi Settings on Nest Connect? I would take a look there and see if that may be an issue with your wifi channels. I have seen that sometimes switching the connection from 2.4Ghz to 5Ghz, or vice versa, and that has re-established the connections and works for some people. Give that a go if you can, and see if it does the trick!

Best regards,

Brad.

If you have different WIFI access points, as Connect auto select one, which may confuse you.  If multiple WIFI access points, turn off unintended WIFI access point(s), then setup Connect see if worked.

2 Brand New Nest Connects and 2 Yale Locks.  Got the appl to recognize and connect to the Front door Yale Lock and Connect.  Installing another Nest connect and Yale lock in Garage, Connect has connected to Nest Appl, but w the Yale lock won't connect when going through the steps on the appl.  Have tried for 2 hrs now and same issue.  Even tried removing the garage connect from appl and re-adding.  Garage Connect has been re-added to Nest profile, Yale lock won't connect.  Kinda at a loss to get this setup properly.  Welcome any advice.

I would suggest that you reach out to Yale Support for further assistance with your lock. If it is not adding, there check which wifi channel you are setting it up on. Maybe it would be good to have one on a 2.4Ghz channel, and the other lock on a 5Ghz channel.

Brad.
