Looks like a software update was pushed to my Google nest hubs and when I go to home control and to my nest cams, instead of a live feed from the cam coming up, I get a screen that says “idle” then name of the camera and room and “live feed” at bottom. I can’t figure out how to get the live feed on the display any longer. Anyone have the same problem and know the fix?

Hey everyone,
We appreciate the feedback regarding the issue affecting camera streaming on your Nest Hub displays. Our engineering team has rolled out a fix for the issue. If you're still experiencing a problem with viewing your cameras on your display, try rebooting your device. Please let us know if the issue persists after the reboot and include as much detail as possible.
Thank you for your patience.

Are you reporting the same problem reported in these threads?

The second threat is same problem… thanks for the advice. I see its a know problem. Thank you

The same thing is happening to me. It does work when I verbally ask it to show me the camera, but not the button.

IDLE is showing on the top left of all 5 individual camera screens, when I press live video, nothing happens,so I can no longer see any of the camera streams.
All cameras and video operating fine on my Samsung phone with the nest & Home app.
Any ideas greatfully received.

Hello, I have the same issue. My hub shows that my cameras are both idle, but the camera feed works fine on the google app on my phone. Did you ever find a solution?
02-13-2025 02:32 PM
Lots of people reporting identical issue, must be a dodgy SFTWR update.
More to come from GOOGLE I guess.

I’m having the same exact issues. I did a software update, unplugged the router & google nest display. Nothing changed. If it doesn’t work tomorrow, then I’ll have to call

Google Nest has to fix their latest Nest Hub firmware update. There is nothing we can do.

The latest Google Nest firmware update broke part(s) of the Nest Hub's user interface.
When you scroll down from the top on a Nest Hub, the "Cameras" option has disappeared, and you can't livestream any cameras. However, you can still use an oral Google Assistant command ("Hey Google show [CAMERA NAME]") to livestream a camera.
There are 3 other threads on this issue now:

Thanks! I thought it was just my device being glitchy. I tried the google voice command and it works. Hopefully they can fix this issue quick.
02-13-2025 08:39 PM
Every time I try voice command it keeps pulling up pictures I don't recognize and saying "check out these pictures".
02-14-2025 12:53 AM
Workaround: ask the assistent 'hey google, show me ... camera' or 'show me camera from ... room'

When I click on the live video for my nest camera in my baby's room, it says IDLE. I can view the feed from my phone, but just not on the hub. I have tried resetting the hub, the camera, and the wifi to no avail.

Same here. Must be a problem with an update.
02-13-2025 02:33 PM
just say hey google show my cam and it will stream.
02-13-2025 08:41 PM
This worked. If I say "Show [camera name]" or "display kids room camera" or anything, it doesn't work. But "show my cam" does.

Not for everyone it won't. Stop posting the same response as loads of others

Same issue. Mine started today 2-13.

Same issue here , 3 displays with 8 cameras.
Voice doesn't work either, just says I don't know but I found these results on search.
Tried
Show camera (name) and show (name) camera

same issue.... i hope to fix it soon...

Same. Utter garbage that a global organisation puts such a shoddy update out.

Just came to say that I'm having the same issue. Wish I had checked here first, been troubleshooting and driving myself crazy.
02-13-2025 04:23 PM
Yeah, it's usually their fault. So I've stopped resetting things when this happens and just wait a day or two. Which is dumb, but it's what they do.
02-13-2025 04:36 PM
I also have the same issue. I use my hub as a monitor to watch over my youngest at night. The voice command unfortunately isn't working for me. I only noticed this though about 2 hours ago (13/2), I'm in the UK. Please fix ASAP!
02-13-2025 04:48 PM
Try saying the full name of your cam?
02-13-2025 05:09 PM
I had to rename my cameras to make it work, the voice tools were spelling my daughter's name wrong
02-13-2025 05:13 PM
Right! The voice command only works if Google hears you right. I have a lot of cameras that are not easily pronounced. It was never an issue, when I could select them manually.

Same, and the voice command doesn't work for me either if I say the name of the camera. Which is weird because it spells everything back to me correctly.
But if I say "show my cam" it does work.

Same issue here!

I am also having this issue. All the tiles on my “home control” screen have moved around and I can no longer view my Nest Camera feeds from my Nest Hub Max. Very annoying as we use this as a baby monitor. We now need to use the Google Home app until this is resolved
02-13-2025 07:43 PM
We use ours as a baby monitor as well. I was able to say hey google show bedroom (camera name) and it worked.
02-13-2025 08:09 PM
Hi,
I use the nest camera as a baby monitor because the baby monitors I've tried didn't work. This actually worked great though there'd be some minor issues here and there like the app closing and having to wake up and turn it back on.
As of yesterday, I can no longer view the camera on any google home display.
I have two 7" google nest hubs and I have one 10" google nest hub max.
When I open the menu and go to home control, I notice that the home control page is way different than it was yesterday. I'm guessing an update?
In any case, I now have to click live video to access the camera... Except when I click it, it takes me to a page saying
"kids room camera" and just sits there on a black screen. After about 30 seconds, it returns back to the main screen.
I can now ONLY access the camera through the mobile app on my samsung phone.
I have tried rebooting all of the google home devices. I have also tried unplugging everything including the camera and plugging it all back in.
I have tried resetting my router. The google home devices still have internet access, I can pull up websites and search recipes, I can do whatever with them. But the main purpose I have them for is the camera, and that's no longer working.
Thank you in advance.

A recent firmware update apparently broke the Nest hub user interface. See this thread:

Thanks.

the voice command “show camera….” Does work but whatever you have your camera labeled in Google home has to map to the same spelling that the Google hub translates your voice to. I’m up and running with a feed for now at least but hopefully they fix the manual load of the feed
02-13-2025 07:08 PM
Having the same issue! Asking Google to show the camera feeds works, but so inconvenient and I’ve had to rename all my cameras. Hope there’s a fix soon!

The google employees that update these nest products are an absolute joke. They push out updates that completely brick their products without even testing the software on devices. This isn’t the first time this has happened. They had better put out a fix some time today, because we pay a lot for these devices.

Same issue. Including my baby monitor feed which is worrying
02-13-2025 11:32 PM
All my Nest Hubs have been rolled back, so someone must be watching this thread, thank God.
