I have several Google minis. One of them has stopped in the middle of a sentence while answering a question. It has a good connection to my Google router. What can I do to fix it?

Isn't is pathetic that it seems the only way to bring this to Google's attention is to write a letter and mail is USPS?! There is NO reliable way to phone or email. If you think their posted phone number is real, it isn't anymore. You'll reach some independent call center in India and beware giving any personal information.
03-03-2022 06:02 PM
I did a phone call to support. Waste of time. Only work-around is to say "hey google repeat that"- and eventually it'll work. I'm guessing if enough people complain (like with the white noise loop thing..) they'll eventually listen. Though rumor has it they're always listening. 🙂

😆

Same problem here. Cuts just after the first sentence. E.g when asking about weather, I get "It's minus eight degrees and sunny there. Tod..."
03-07-2022 09:19 PM
I was having this problem yesterday with my Google home mini too. Kept stopping or cutting out mid sentence. If the sentence was long enough it would eventually start itself back up lol.
I disabled ipv6 connections in my router and that seems to have fixed the issue for now
03-08-2022 03:18 PM
Are there consequences in disabling ipv6 connections in router though?
03-12-2022 05:32 PM
My phone, google nest, 3 minis, and my android auto are having this issue. It's a software issue, not a hardware problem.
03-12-2022 06:07 PM
I'm sorry I don't understand.
All other software of mine works properly. Still just Google minis stopping mid sentence.
03-12-2022 06:35 PM
I wonder if we are all having this issue because of the lawsuit @User123456 lost. I really wish they would give use the respect and respond to us!! Here is the lawsuit article
https://www.howtogeek.com/778558/google-home-speakers-are-losing-features-due-to-a-lawsuit/
03-12-2022 06:36 PM
Maybe the screwed up the software while removing this function???
03-12-2022 07:13 PM
Perhaps. The ruling dealt mainly with setting volume on multiple devices, and initial setup. It's very possible they unintentionally broke something in the code that is somehow related to completing phrases.
In the meantime, try " Hey Google- repeat that" as one work around. I also suggest to keep saying "Hey Google, Give feedback" ad nauseum throughout day and state the problem. I figure if we bombard them they'll eventually listen and hopefully fix it. If not, I'll cut my losses and start over with Alexa.
03-12-2022 08:10 PM
Alexa won't work with my new S21 😪

I'm having the same issues as everyone else. I have 3 minis, a tall Google speaker, and an alarm clock with Google built in. They are all doing this. Rearing them, and my asus router do nothing. Google needs to put something out to at least acknowledge the issue
03-13-2022 08:26 AM
Plus 1 on this same problem.
03-14-2022 05:54 AM
I like Obxa's answer. Let's all keep saying he Google give feedback then tell Google what the problem is. Maybe if we all do this several times a day for several days, it might get looked at. What do we have to lose?

Hi folks,
Just wanted to update this thread. Our team is still looking into this and will update this thread once we hear from them. Thank you.

Okay. So I seem to have made some progress. I gave it one last try before I permanently donated the mini speakers to the trash can. The short of it is - it seems to be related to 5G and potentially the last update as far as it was coincidentally about that time it quit working properly.
Here is what I did. I disabled Google Assistant on all devices. I deleted Google Home app on all devices. I changed my router passwords and ID so I could be sure I wasn't pulling any old info. I renamed them to 2G and 5G so they were easily differentiated.
I rebooted/reset everything. I factory reset the mini speakers.
I avoided using my Pixel phone to set things up to eliminate it from the problem. I have a Lenovo phablet and I downloaded Google Home - opened the app and went through the steps of making rooms and finding devices. I SET UP EVERYTHING ON 2G.
And it worked for me. The response is no longer truncated. I did not go back and try to replicate the problem only using 5G - some other day when I have nothing better to do I might try it. Another reason for not using my phone to set up Home is because it always seems to default to 5G even though I purposefully switch it. So my swag is that it is somehow related to 5G and update.

It began in January 2022.
In the last two months it happens less often.
There is nothing we can do from our end.
The resolution must come from Google.

1 week later UPDATE. Still working. I re-installed Google Home app on my Pixel phone. It's connected to 5g but the google home setup has remained connected to 2G and it all works as expected. The devices are updated to the latest firmware. The only thing I haven't enabled is Google Assistant on my phone.

Hi all,
A fix was already rolled out a few days ago. I would like to check with everyone if you are still experiencing the same thing? Keep me posted.
Best,
Nikki

Be more specific please.
What date was this "fix?"
Mine stopped mid-sentence as recent as Sunday November 6th. It's Tuesday November 8th.
11-08-2022 03:44 PM
Hi folks,
@StaceyJill & @JesterP, sorry for the confusion. Others have confirmed that it was fixed on their end. Can you please provide what firmware version you have?
Best,
Nikki
11-08-2022 03:54 PM
No idea.
I have the steps of how to find in App however, I have no "device tile" to press and hold such as Step 2 is asking me to do.
11-08-2022 05:11 PM
Hello Nikki, I've tried the switching out of 5g and rebooting. Unfortunately it's doing the same thing. Now my phone is doing it as well, 2 times today. So I don't know.
Firmware version: 313652
Cast firmware: 1.56.313652
11-08-2022 04:40 PM
Hi StaceyJill,
When you open the Google Home app you will see the speaker picture, tap on the picture, then tap the settings at the top right corner. You will see the device information then scroll down for the cast firmware version.
Keep me posted.
Best,
Nikki

Thank you and yes I've located the number for my 3 Minis and 1 Tall. Please provide the latest firmware number.
11-08-2022 05:01 PM
I do see I have the latest.
1.56.313652.
1.56.299.498

Hi all,
Thanks for sending the information. I'll check this with the team and get back to you.

Thank you so much!

Hi all,
Our team suggested if we can try the troubleshooting steps provided by @wajobo8 for us to isolate if this is a network related issue. If changing settings on the router is impossible then we can try hotspot. You will need two mobile device, one is the set up device and the other one as the router. Just reset one Google Home device and set this up on a hotspot. Let me know once done.
Best,
Nikki

Hi all,
Just wanted to follow up if you were able to try the troubleshooting steps above?
Best,
Nikki
11-16-2022 02:38 PM
Yes, all the ridiculous hoops didn't treat the problem of stopping mid sentence.
01-11-2023 04:36 PM
Hi all,
Apologies for the late response. We'll make sure to circle back on this thread as soon as we have some news to share. Appreciate your patience and understanding. Thank you.

Same issue here.
03-18-2022 01:14 AM
I have had this happening several times on both my google home mini (which is next to the router), and occasionally my google home. Both have been reset and unplugged - I also use the "repeat that" workaround. I like the idea of using feedback to try and get the message back to google.
03-19-2022 08:28 AM
I also have the same problem. I have 6 speakers in total (hub, nest etc) and ONE does not finish sentences. Dont all the reset etc. No change.
03-20-2022 08:37 AM
I'm having the same exact problem all this have reported here. Very frustrating!
03-20-2022 09:43 AM
Perhaps this issue is related to the new feature that Google added in which the assistant stops talking if it hears the word "stop"?
https://www.engadget.com/google-assistant-stop-command-114443492.html
03-20-2022 10:12 AM
Hi - I think mine stops regardless - even if there is no other background noise, or the response that google is giving does not contain the word stop either.
