My CCwGTV 4K received the latest update UTTC.241218.004, now I have Android 14.
This update broke playback of direct live TV stream in all the apps. It looks that all the h.264 FullHD streams are affected. The playback is like slow motion with judder and audio out of sync. All these apps worked perfectly fine before the update. Many users report the same (Reddit).
Source is DVB-C, TS stream from my cable TV provider.
Is this a known problem from Google's side? All the devices still on Android 12 are perfect.

Are you sending the logs to Google as requested on 6/24?
Will help in the resolution if everyone sends the logs

Witam u mnie tak samo nie działają kanały live po aktualizacji na android 14. Obraz slow motion.
07-01-2025 11:30 AM
what do you mean

Yes, I have the same problem.
07-01-2025 12:35 PM
Dlatego wymieniłem już to badziewie na NVIDIA shield pro, zero problemów I dużo szybszy.
07-06-2025 06:18 AM
Chromcast też był super, zepsuli go updatem. NVIDIA może zrobić to samo 😄
07-06-2025 07:41 AM
Nie ma planów na Android 14, a jak będą to mam nadzieję że już będzie naprawione 😄
07-06-2025 04:08 AM
Has this been fixed yet?
07-06-2025 06:03 AM
no still not
07-07-2025 01:24 PM
Same on streaming from enigma openatv 7.5.1 and dreamPlayer.
07-09-2025 09:38 PM
Yes, since the problem is with Google device and not the source.
07-09-2025 01:06 AM
Typically I'm actually a defender of google stuff and prefer to stick with goggle rather than Apple. But unfortunately I think something like is very unlikely to happen on Apple devices. It's a disgrace how they allow an update to break something so fundamental that pretty much turns the device unusable for tons of users.
More unfortunate is that they really don't seem to care about it... Oh well, it seems nowadays only AI matters
07-09-2025 01:09 PM
You are right about everything!
The most absurd thing is that more than 2 months have passed, they asked for system logs, said they were aware of the problem but yet they release an update that solves NOTHING and ask again to send more logs.

@GoogleNestTeam This issue occurs when the video is an interlaced stream.
Reproduction steps are as simple as reencoding the same video in both interlaced and progressive format and playing thru the device.

I found my old Amazon Firestick and installed it. Everything works like a charm.
An older and cheaper device that works much better, and as a bonus, I can even use cloud gaming...
I was thinking about buying the new Google streamer, but since this happened, no way I will invest in any Google Hardware.
This is a complete disrespect with the consumers of Google products.
07-14-2025 09:44 AM
No way I'll buy a Google Streamer after this complete mess from Google ! I'd rather invest in a Xiaomi Box S 3rd Gen, cheaper and fully functional!
07-20-2025 02:41 AM
No, there is still an issue with AFR, especially with Tivimate.
07-20-2025 03:21 AM
Well I believe it's not AFR problem but h.264 decoding issue.
07-20-2025 10:16 PM
It is not the AFR. H264 codec support is broken in some way.
07-30-2025 12:59 PM
Does TiviMate work well on the Xiaomi Box S 3rd generation?"
07-30-2025 12:55 PM
I also wanted to buy a Google TV Stream, but after Google's problems surfaced, no thanks. I'd rather buy a stream stick like the Xaomi from China, which at least works better.
07-20-2025 04:07 AM
Some time ago I wrote that the problem seems to have been solved, but it has not been, the device is still not working.
07-20-2025 04:09 AM
The problem is most bothersome in applications that display video.
07-20-2025 04:10 AM
And the worst thing is that no one watches IPTV on Google, so they won't notice the problem.

Too bad I haven't read that thread first. I've just updated all my Google tv Chromecast to android 14 as of today. Now all my BNB guests are glad to watch slow motion stuttered tv 😤
DVB server is HDHomerun , using DVB-T channels. H264 interlaced streams 25/50 fps.
All stream now have the half speed symptom. This clearly looks to be an issue with interlaced streams.
Was working perfectly with android 12.
Now it's all useless ( I have 6 guest rooms + main family).
I'm a bit worried Google dev team has still not fixed this issue months after. Should I reconsider my whole setup?
07-23-2025 01:24 PM
The only solution at the moment is transcoding (I think it's about deinterlacing) or changing devices. I had the same problem with many IPTV channels. Now my provider transcodes the signal and all h264 channels work without problems.
07-26-2025 02:30 AM
channels are wrongly recognized as 60Hz instead of 50Hz. At the moment there is no device that is completely bug-free. Android 14 has some problems on every device.
07-26-2025 02:59 AM
I don't completely agree with you. I have a device from another brand that costs 1/3 the price of the Google Streamer and has Android 14. Everything works without any hiccups or problems.
07-26-2025 03:00 AM
Can you write its name?
07-26-2025 03:58 AM
Kinhank G1 is probably great, I bought it myself, it has Android 14 and it works great and much smoother than Chromecast.

Can you name the device please. In the Reddit and Google Nest communities it is understood that if you wish to view interlaced DVB-T2. any device with ATV14 is essentially a brick.
08-06-2025 08:57 AM
For me Xiaomi TV Box S 3 works quite ok (A14). DVB-T2 through Tvheadend on a Raspberry Pi. No transcoding, using Kodi as player. Lipsync is maybe not 100% right, as it was on CCwGTW A12. But much better than CCwGTV A14, which is not usable at all.

Interesting, many thanks for this insight. We cannot assume that Google will provide a fix so it would be good if folks here can continue to share information on devices that work. I know that transcoding at the server end is one solution but it adds unnecessary complexity to TVHeadend setups, also adding lag. Modern ATV devices should do the deinterlacing, they are already doing way more complex decoding tasks. The cheapest Amazon firestick does deinterlacing perfectly.

The problem has existed since February/March, and Google hasn’t done anything to fix the issue. I'm starting to believe that Google doesn’t care about its customers — otherwise, they would have solved the problem by now or at least allowed us to go back to Android 12."
08-06-2025 08:38 AM
It has existed since October 2024 when it was first reported here for the Google TV Streamer running ATV14. Still no response from Google, so don't be expecting a fix.
07-30-2025 01:48 AM
Yes we need urgently a way to rollback until Google fix the problem.
07-30-2025 01:05 PM
Alright folks, I m fed up with Google. For months, nothing has been done. If they can’t fix the problems, then Google should at least let us roll back to Android 12.
Quick question: Does the TiviMate app work well on the Xiaomi Box S 3rd generation or not?

Its all pathetic engough. I had a Chromecast 4k which I did not update on purpose. Over night it seemed to update on its own.
So my Device became unusable without any interaction by me.
Google, fix this pile of **bleep**!!
07-31-2025 03:45 AM
Exactly the same thing happened to me 2 days ago
08-06-2025 08:40 AM
Exact same thing happened to me. I was aware of the ATV14 issue so I was hoping my CCWGTV would remain on Android 12 unless I checked for updates. Turns out Google has pushed it through and my device is now a brick.
