Chrome cast google to set up

I am trying to set up on a monitor I was told I could but as it stands I can’t do tried using google home but until I get a picture on monitor can’t do should I set this up a tv ?

If I understand correctly, you have bought Chromecast with Google TV but get a black screen or no signal when you plug it into a HDMI port on your TV?
