Like it says above Chromecast Ultra stopped showing the options menu for YouTube. used to get a preview of stuff to choose from but it isn't there anymore. The mini says it is displayed on the screen and asks me to choose but nothing is there. If I say a number, it starts playing. Both dongles quit showing it at the same time. They both have the same firmware and I have even done a factory rest on one of them. It still isn't showing on the screen. Anyone have this issue before?

@Jeran @JenniferV it is coming up to a year since my issues started. What gives? This has been as reliable as Chromecast has been...... not showing any results and having us guess.

There has been no updates for months and it has been over a year since it has started. Is there a "Team" on it? Why can't we just roll back the updates to when it was working?

Over a year with no results and marked answered.

This is not helpful as no progress has been made nor any real communication!

Hi JenniferV,
It's been quite a few months now and this issue is still prevalent. Can we have an update on the status? It's quite annoying and very disappointing to see this bug still prevalent after so much time.

Have there been any updates on this issue??
05-09-2023 07:00 PM
No. Just more piling us into this thread and forgetting about us. Any time I try to make a new one they just say we know about the issue and merge it here.

What is the fix for this problem?
05-16-2023 04:53 AM
Currently nothing. I believe ( just speculating ) they are trying to funnel everyone towards a Google TV ( with remote). They are done with Chromecast Ultra and the like.
05-16-2023 07:39 AM
Curious if anyone with a Google TV device can confirm that the Google Home selection screen works (with voice command) for them. This working theory on them sunsetting their old products is my guess as well, but just wondering if we have anyone on this thread with same problem and the Google TV.
05-16-2023 07:56 AM
I do. It only works by holding the assistant button and using your voice. Its related to the app you currently have on the screen. For example, if you do it inside the youtube app it'll look for youtube videos that you can then cursor over to using the remote. Not as good in my opinion.
05-17-2023 12:52 PM
This has been another huge roadblock for me as I cannot physically use a remote and rely on full voice access.
05-17-2023 12:58 PM
That is not a very inclusive thing for google to do. Accessibility is important here.
05-17-2023 02:06 PM
Yes, it's the whole reason I got Chromecast to begin with, but it really feels like they don't care about accessibility anymore. 😢
05-17-2023 03:06 PM
We've been waiting since last August. Seriously, WTF?!?!?
06-25-2023 02:19 AM
Hi 👋 is there a fix for this yet? It was a very useful feature, it's a shame it's not working correctly.

Hello, this issue has been Unresolved for several months since I first found it,
The issue is: after I say :" Hey google, play Cat speaking videos", Usually, the Chromecast Ultra connected TV will display related videos with number like 1, 2, 3 , 4, 5, etc represeting each of them , and in the meantime, google assistant speaker saying" got it, here are some optoins, showing on XXXX,, which one would you like"?
But since about 2 or 3 months ago, no such options is shown on TV, with only the same voice response from Google assitant speaker as mentioned above, this means that I can not choose which one I like to play on TV,
I have sent this feedback to Google support MANY TIME, NOBODY HAS MANAGED TO FIX IT, BAD,
PLEASE , WHAT IS THE SOLUTION, HOW TO FIX?
Please do Not close this until this is fixed

If your team has identified the issue and still can't fix it after weeks / months why don't you share what you have identified with the community. Maybe they can.
09-09-2022 08:57 AM
Still no fix for me. Can I get a refund on my Chromecast and Home seeing as it doesn't work anymore, and you've stated Google has identified what's with no fix for months?
09-09-2022 09:19 AM
I'm seriously thinking the same... I have asked for a complaint contact, but was just fobbed off. So darn frustrating.
11-11-2022 03:18 PM
I have 8 Google Home Speakers and 5 Chromecasts, none of them are able to display the options when Google says "ok here are some options" for the user to select from the T.V. .. thinking of moving to the competition. This has been unacknowledged /unresolved for months!
09-25-2022 03:10 AM
I have had this issue for 6 months now. It was going on before i made this thread and thought it was going to get resolved. Seems like there is no solution being worked on.
08-16-2022 08:05 AM
This has been broken for nearly 2 months now, amazing!
08-16-2022 09:01 AM
I think over 2 months for me. I've lost track
08-16-2022 10:07 AM
3 or 4 months for me
11-11-2022 06:49 PM
Now I know why google stocks go down 🙂😘🥳
11-12-2022 04:25 AM
My theory is that JenniferV and google are no longer looking at this thread. Maybe they don’t even know it’s an issue since it’s marked as “solved” even though it’s not been solved for months.
it’s basic functionality of the product that went down the drain.
11-12-2022 04:49 AM
I think you are absolutely right.
maybe all of us here should start a new thread saying “my nest is not talking to my chrome cast”
11-12-2022 05:27 AM
you might be right. let's do it.
11-12-2022 05:57 AM
With our powers combined!
11-12-2022 05:56 AM
Good idea, I did exactly that.
feel free to do the same.
08-19-2022 07:11 AM
I have the same issue and have an open case with Google, have been waiting months for a resolution, I have a disabled partner who relies on the hands free functionality, I wait with baited breath, its good luck I didn't hold it...
08-19-2022 07:39 AM
@JBDraven I just wanted to say I'm sorry that Google is taking so long to fix this, especially as you have a disabled partner relying on it. This lack of functionality is very frustrating. Two days ago Google announced a new robot with AI functionality, so advanced right? Meanwhile they can't the most basic of functionality right. Simple bugs are overlooked. It's ming boggling. I can imagine how screwed up the code base and internal knowledge is.
08-19-2022 08:02 AM
I have a disability, too, and rely heavily on hands-free access.
08-19-2022 07:41 AM
@JenniferV Can you update us on the details of the actual progress ? Perhaps you can be specific with what's being done by Google.
08-19-2022 09:43 AM
It has been my suspicion that, when they 'Google' removed the function of staying logged in to youtube on the all but the new chromecast, that this has caused an issue showing the options on a screen as the Chromecast is no longer logged in to the users account but the nest/home products are. I conveyed this to Google but got no response. I may be wrong, but it seemed to happen at the same time.
09-05-2022 03:35 PM
But when you say, "play #3" it will play a video that is not shown on the screen so it seems like everything still works except for the proper interface.
09-09-2022 12:00 AM
very good point
09-18-2022 10:37 PM
Yo4: In fact there are 20 options to choose from and saying a number does play a video, so you're right! This appears to be a bug that prevents the results list from displaying. But what are you implying when you wrote, "still works"??! Imagine calling an automated phone line and it says, "Pick a number from 1-9 to maybe be connected with the right person or call back and try again." BTW, in this metaphor, every time you call (ie ask Google to play a video) the numbers will mean something different and lead somewhere different.
When working, humans got to watch their desired YouTube video quicker and easier. In it's current buggy form, it's frustratingly pointles; causing delays and unnecessary hurdles when searching for a video.,, And Search is kind of Google's thing =J
P.S. About the only thing more pointless and ride with unnecessary hurdles seems to be this forum and the Community Specialists that Close these threads as Fixed or Resolved with exactly zero information- no issue identification nor proposed fix info.
