Hey everyone,

Your Nest devices just got more streamlined, just in time for summer. From your favorite channels in the Live tab on Chromecast with Google TV*, to a more natural way of getting help from Google on Nest Hub Max, the latest Nest updates make life at home a little more helpful. We’ve rounded up our favorite tips for each device below, so without further ado, let’s dive right in!

*Chromecast with Google TV requires a TV with an HDMI port, a Wi-Fi network, a Google Account, a nearby electrical outlet, and a compatible mobile device.

Chromecast with Google TV:

  • Use your voice to access your watchlist. To see your watchlist, just press the Google Assistant button on the voice remote and say, “show me my watchlist”.
  • See your favorite channels in the Live tab. In the Live tab, you can now ‘star’ your favorite channels so you can see them right at the top of your TV guide on Chromecast with Google TV.

Nest Hub:

  • Just look and talk to your Nest Hub Max. Look and Talk is a new additional way to get help on your Nest Hub Max. Once it’s turned on, just look at your device and ask away— no “ Hey Google'' required. To learn more about Look and Talk check out the help center article

Nest Cams:

  • New ways to control your  Nest devices. In addition to Google Assistant-enabled devices, you can now use Amazon Alexa devices to control the latest Nest camera and doorbells. For more, check out the community blog post.

Nest Doorbell:

  • 4th of July ringtones: Celebrate Independence Day with two familiar songs: “God Bless America” or “The Star-Spangled Banner”. For a little extra fun, try the fireworks theme tone, available now till 7/7/2022.

Which update are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments!

My wifi has been very inconsistent lately with different mesh points dropping randomly.  When I run in home mesh test I get inconsistent results where I’ll go from great to offline to weak etc on same nest points.  Nest locations haven’t changed in 2 years since bought system but this issue with the I costs too connections only started happening a few weeks ago.  Very frustrating.

The seasonal ringtone option for the Nest Doorbell is not showing in the Nest or Home app as of 6/29/22.

Your post is entitled "The latest Nest updates are coming in hot", but there is still no update at all to these 9-month-old Google Nest promises:

A Sept. 30, 2021 Google Nest blog (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Let-s-talk-cameras-Comparing-the-new-Nest-Cam-battery-to...) said:

"We’re working on incorporating many of these favorite features from the Nest app into the Google Home app over the next year."

"Although Nest Cam (battery) is not compatible with home.nest.com, we’ve been working on rolling out a desktop experience for the Google Home app, so the new Nest cameras and doorbell feeds can be viewed and controlled from there. This will launch in 2022."

A Sept. 29, 2021 Google Nest blog (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/...) said:

"...we are committed to bringing the experiences and Nest devices you have come to love in the Nest app into the Home app."

"...we’ve also been working on rolling out a desktop experience for the Google Home app, so the new Nest cameras and doorbell feeds can be viewed and controlled from there. This will launch in 2022."

That's what should be "coming in hot".

MplsCustomer is SPOT ON!!!

And for me most important is the ability to view the new gen cams from my Computer browsers just like HOME.NEST.COM.   And PLEASE bring back the ability to define any clip I want (24/7 recording), save it and then send someone A LINK to view the clip.  The way HOME.NEST.COM is Fantastic and I really hope this gets implemented the exact same way.  Anything less than that will be a significant disappointment for me.

I'm not seeing the extra ringtones in the doorbell settings. Am I missing something?

***Update***

I was happy to see they brought the ringtones back last holiday season and that they have brought over more of the nest features into the Home app.

Don't have any doorbell chime options in Google Home or the Nest app

I guess the joke is on us. Apparently Google Nest forgot to enable or turn on the 4th of July ringtones. Instead of providing the promised substantial updates to give the new Google Nest cameras and doorbells the same capabilities as our old Google Nest cameras and doorbells, they announce an incidental update and then fail to turn it on.

Chromecast with Google TV does not have a dynamic refresh rate.

This is a big problem switching between 24 hz and 50 hz sources

I just bought a new Chromecast with Google TV device two weeks ago and I have had a paid monthly subscription to Sling TV for over a year. I wanted to take advantage of the feature mentioned by @Leticia, favorite channels in the Live tab. But I do not see any way to "star" (i.e., to favorite) my channels in the Google TV program guide.

I can only select the current live program for each channel, but the cursor will not move all the way to the left to the field where the name of the channel is located. I went to the updates section of settings for the Chromecast with Google TV device, and it tells me that the device's software is current.

Is this "favorite channels" feature on Live being rolled out selectively to Chromecast with Google TV devices? If so, when can I expect that the feature will arrive on my device?

A fix is desperately needed please for the now over 6 month old issue of motion detection limited to less than 8 feet on the Nest Cam (battery) when it goes into an Idle state vs when a power cable is plugged in and it jumps to 25 feet. Thank you so much Google!

Google has failed and took Nest with it.

Home is still bad, doesn't work with older gens.

Wireless doorbell doesn't stream and has issues with temp and battery.

Overpriced and lackluster support.  This includes old gens and nest security system.

Everyone is moving to Blink.  I'm giving it another month and doing the same.  You can't announce new doorbells almost a year ago and have nothing.

Still looking for how to get the doorbell to ring on my phone or Mini speaker. It can’t take Google over a year to fix this.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to buy a replacement power adapter and cord for the Nest Outdoor Camera? My camera won’t power up as it looks like water got into the power adapter.

Google should be ashamed of there self. This issue has been going on for years and there are no options. My product is only 13 months old.

For all of you, please imagine before making a decision. How do you feel when you know about the cause of our own products not installed on our device but installed on other devices while our device is just installed with a virtual system for the purpose of connection and sharing without consent.

Do we know if there have been any updates that address problems with sleep sensing?

@Leticia

I really dread these updates. It only makes things worse. We connected a doorbell to our Google Home speaker about a year ago. It worked fine then but now speaker no longer rings when there's a visitor pressing the doorbell. NOTHING has changed on our side so I can only assume it was one of those updates. In settings, the option to ring the bell is greyed out so we can't even change it back. Very frustrating and huge time waster.
