Nest Cam (Wired) - No reset button

Recently moved, and I haven't been able to get my camera added at my new place. Removed the camera from the app, and now when I plug it in the light turns white briefly and then turns off.

Google support page says "locate the reset pin between the cord and the support arm," but there's nothing there.

Hi Jake0311,

Thanks for reaching out! Thanks for trying to set up your Nest Cam Wired. Follow the steps below to factory reset your camera.

  1. Locate the reset hole on the bottom of the camera head. It’s between the power cord and the camera neck.
  2. Insert a paper clip, thumbtack or similar into the hole. Press and hold down.
    • At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
    • At 12 seconds, the status light will be solid yellow. When the camera begins resetting, you’ll hear a confirmation tone.
  3. Release the button. Your camera will restore to its factory settings.
  4. After the factory reset, your camera will appear as “Offline” in the app until you remove it.

Thanks JT for replying. I did get it to work! It’s an early generation outdoor wired version blackface no reset button. I deleted it from app then re installed again but it would not turn on ( no light) I even tested the connection with another device and that device worked so I took camera down. As last resort I tested it by plugging  the USB into an iPhone white brick and it worked! Installed to app no problem, put back outside  and it’s doing its job!

Not sure if you have the same model as I do, but I had to twist the head of mine in order to be able to see the reset hole.

Hey folks!

Jake0311, thanks for sharing that. Were you able to make it work?

Pburke, I'm sorry to hear that. Let's check this out —  a few questions: are you pertaining to the black Nest Cam Indoor with a stand on it? Do you have an extra power cable to connect your camera? If so, how did it go? Also, is the cable fully and securely plugged in to both the camera and the adapter?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

JT
