Nest camera (battery) live stream unavailable

Hello. I just installed 2 nest battery cameras outdoors. The live video seemed to be working for both while I was installing, then randomly wouldn't. I've seen a bunch of other similar issues here, none seem to have solid solutions. I turned on of the cameras off. Initially it wouldn't turn off, then after walking outside to look at the camera, it shut down. Then we couldn't get it to turn back on, so I Uninstalled and re-installed it. At first it appeared to work fine, then it started doing the same thing.

I came to the realization that while the cameras were actively recording, you could connect, but once they went idle, the live video wouldn't connect. So in theory, if someone came up to the house, we'd still see the history and if we were quick enough, we could tune in live. But if we just wanted to check the camera for something, it wouldn't work.

I was curious if there were settings we could mess with or if anyone else has the same pattern of access when the camera is recording?

This seems to be a well established issue unfortunately. Nest Cam (battery) will go into idle mode whenever it's running on battery. To stream live video when it's in that mode, you'll first need to tap "Live video" for the camera in the Home app. You'll probably already have read if its wired with the optional cable, the live video will stream without needing to tap the option.

Tapping the "Live Video" button is what usually brings up the "Live video unavailable" message. Like once the camera goes into idle mode, the only thing that will wake it up is the motion sensor. This seems like a software issue and if its well known, I would think Google/Nest would be trying to repair it. Also, when I turned the camera off yesterday and couldn't get it to turn back on, I did plug the charger into the camera, but still couldn't connect to turn it back on until I uninstalled and reinstalled it.

Well, so far, not much help. Is this the official support/help for these devices? My in-laws whom I installed these for are not happy with the performance so far and said if we cannot get this fixed, they want to return them.
