Installing Nest Protects crashes app

jim4004

Hi - We bought a home that has multiple NEST apps already installed.   I am now trying to bring the Protects online and my iPhone app keeps crashing.   There was a thread that discussed this and the solutions was to keep trying over and over and somebody named  Garret closed the thread saying it was resolved.   I disagree - I don't half a day to spend trying to get this going.  This is not a quality product in my mind.  Creating a new thread...

Hey folks,

It looks like we have come to a solution so I'm going to be locking this thread. If you have any other concerns or questions, please feel free to create a new thread.

Have a great day.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear that you're all having issues with this, I know it can be frustrating but I'm happy to provide some clarification.

This is a current issue that we are aware of with the Nest app version 5.66 on iOS. Our Engineering team is working on a fix for this issue. In the meantime, the workaround would be to only tap the room name once on the room selection screen and wait for the app to load the next screen in the pairing process.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Garrett DS

First remove all in the Nest App, then install the Nest protect.

Then install the Nest hello etc.

That will work!

Chris

It doesn't work.

Thanks Chris.  Yes - tried that workflow and like Eimaj suggests - it doesn't work.   The suggestion that some say work is to pull the batteries over and over and it will eventually work.  I have only tried 10 times and it still crashes at the same point in the installation process. I have 6 units to install...

Experiencing the same frustration without any solution.  Cannot add existing Nest/Yale locks w/o crashing in IOS even though I was successful in adding Nest Connects for them.

I have 3 different IOS iPhones, 2 different iPads and 7 Protects. I have erased and rebuilt my nest account, added new structures, upgraded to 5.66 Nest app and ALL FAIL. I am on day 7 of trying to upgrade my old Nest Gen 1 devices to the new Gen 2.

Nothing works. The only thing coming from the community is to use an android device which I do not have access to.

Just tried GarrettDS' solution - "tap the room location once..."  Did not work.  Tried on two different items (one connect and one Nest/Yale lock) multiple times.  Suggest you don't lock this discussion until a viable and proven solution is available.
