Nest Protect Battery Type (Energizer Lithium discontinued)

Hi,

The manual states Nest Protect must use Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries, but these have been discontinued. I could not find any at my local Home Depot and etc. Any remaining stock is heavily marked up on Amazon etc, if available at all.

Regular alkaline AA lasted maybe a week, and my rechargeable Ni-MH batteries do not work.

Looking for a sustainable solution, please advise!

Thank you,

Ryan

As far as I know, they haven't been discontinued? I can still find them on Amazon?

Hi Jake,

I was able to find some Energizer Ultimate, so I'm okay for now. There just seemed to be shortages.

I'm wondering if there are any battery alternatives I could look for. Have tried alkaline and rechargeable lithium batteries with 1.5v, which have worked but for a short lifespan.

Thanks,
Ryan

Hey yatyesam,

Glad to hear you were able to find some Energizer Ultimate batteries. The Nest Protect was designed to use these batteries, and any other type of battery may cause the device to not work as intended. I would recommend only using the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries. Please let me know if you have any other questions from here.

Best regards,

Jake
