I had to reset my nest protects because they wouldn’t let me put in my new wifi password. Still can’t get password in so nothing will connect

I am having the same issue after upgrading my wifi. I have followed every step from the troubleshooting guide but the protect will not join the wifi...

I ended up having to uninstall all the smoke detectors and thermostats. Once everything was uninstalled, I reinstalled everything. I started with the new devices so that the older ones would take to the Wi-Fi… Apparently, on dual band devices, the new single band devices need to be installed first so that the other devices will attach themselves to the correct band. Took me hours on the phone with support to figure this out. Good Luck!!

I’m experiencing the same problem. Nest/Google has made it extremely difficult to change the Wi-Fi on Protect devices. I have not found a solution.

Thank you! I got Melissa Bot yesterday who seemed genuinely concerned about my issue... However, I was not able to find a resolution in the hour I spent... Will try again today!

Please let us know if you get results. I don't have an hour to spend on the phone right now.
Thanks

I resolved the issue by restoring the Protect to default settings and changing its room assignment to match the “assisting” product’s room. This bit of nuance was not documented anywhere. Hope this helps!
