And your nest thermostat settings, there is a nest account that you can click on and it will show you your your ID for the thermostat as well as the QR code and it will show you if it’s already registered to a different account. Now the easiest way to restart. All of this is to actually go into the nest app or the Google app and remove the thermostat from the app. Next go to the thermostat tap to wake it up rotate to ringer settings select then rotate the ring until you get to the sub menu for Nest app. At that point select and go in and delete the Nest account. This will cause a restart of the Google nest thermostat. After that is complete, you can restart the assigning of an account to the nest thermostat. all the settings and the device and equipment will remain after it restarts. All you do is once again tap the settings. It’ll automatically take you to the point where you need to assign a Nest account. When you tap that you will see the QR code, then use your phone to scan it, and re-add the thermostat to your nest or Google app. Personally, I prefer using the Nest app.

The Google Home app does not replace the Nest app. Both apps work with each other seamlessly. You may continue using the Nest App to control your Nest Thermostat. Launch the Nest App and take a screen shot of the app Home Screen and upload it. It look like mine below.

Thanks for your answer but I am not using the google home app and don't want to. This just started happening one day when i opened my nest app and it showed i had to connect to my google account, which i hardly ever use! I don't use gmail email or anything. My app page used to look like yours above but now it doesn't. It doesn't show my temp and i need it to be back to the way it used to be. Can you help me?

Well the nest is linked to the Nest account that you created when you first installed the nest app and your thermostat. It should not be asking you to go to a Google account, it should be going to the same account you created when you created the Nest account
11-15-2022 02:08 PM
And which account is that? my original email account I linked to it? Not sure how this happened but this is what's happening so who can i ask for help if Nest is now owned by google.

So I signed out of app and at bottom it says I can sign in with Nest. The problem is that it's an old email address so when it wants to verify my account and send that email a code, well i can't get that code cuz the address is no longer active. This is how this all started; i remember now. It asked me to sign in and couldn't with that address so took option to sign in with Google. Why if i did sign in that way, why doesn't it show my temp??

Need to double check to make sure that the nest thermostat is linked to the app still. If a user ID changed in the nest will be in the old email and not the new email so you’ll have to re-add the thermostat to the Nest app

It is connected and user Id didn't change. I can't sign in with my old email address; how do i change that address on my original Nest account? once i can do that, then i can sign in using that email vs google account.... do you know how i can do that?

The only thing I can figure to do is to create a new Nest account with your email you want to use, and then take that new account in Nest ID login to the Nest app and then add the thermostat. Other than that I have no idea how to change an existing account

I am having the exact same problem. Very frustrating. I never use Google either and now it seems like I am in a terminal, endless, mind boggling loop. I was perfectly happy with what I had. Now it has become a living nightmare!!

I’m in exactly the same position. I’ve one of the original nests (maybe 8 years old). It was working fine. I then moved to Denmark for 3 years and wasn’t using the nest app. I’m now back at my house in Uk and I can’t see the temp on nest app.
I was forced to change my log in and now use my google sign in on to the nest app. I can see on the nest app if it’s registering home/away but it does not show the temperature. It’s also suggested I can add a product but there’s no qr code on the physical nest.
when looking at settings on the device itself it does say it’s connected to an account and I am assuming it’s my Google account

Is there a guru from nest that can help?

Hi @Doublegintonic, thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue, but we'll sort this out together. To clarify, is the thermostat visible on the Nest app?
11-26-2022 11:32 AM
thanks George
the app just shows either home or away. No reference to temperature or the ability to change the temperature.
