Need wiring help

I have not purchased a Nest thermostat yet, but am looking for more precise compatibiity information before I make a purchase. My furnace, about 20 years old, and current thermostat show only  RW&G wires.

Looking at the motherboard, a White-Rodgers 50A65-476, has terminals for other connections, including an unused C terminal. See image...

Does that mean I could attach a wire to the C terminal at the motherboard, then at the thermostat and use a Nest? Or, do I need to call a pro installer? Thanks.

Dunno if this helps... found this in motherboard doc

Hi Art_Shotwell,

Thanks for reaching out. Yes you can use one of the unused wires to the C terminal of your control board and connect it to your Nest Thermostat.

Thanks,

Edward

Hi Art_Shotwell,

It's me again. I wanted to check back in to see if you have other questions and concerns. Feel free to let me know if you do.

Thanks,

Edward

Thanks, I had missed your earlier response.  I poked around online and ended up connecting to the C furnace terminal and I installed an ecobee thermostat. I decided against because I’ve read too many complaints about it. My ecobee is now one day old and seems to be working fine. Although the weather forecast it pulls up online seems to be a bit offbase.
