Nest Sensor unable to add to account

Hi,

recently reset my nest thermostat. Once it was reconnected to my wifi and working through the app I have been unable to add the 3 temp sensor back.

They all have new batteries. I have removed the batteries for over 1 hour. I have restarted the thermostat and tried nearly everything I can find on this support forum.

How can I manually add these back. I’ve never had any issue with them previously. Nothing else has changed. The reason for the reset was I removed a house from the app, and I accidentally removed the wrong house. I’ve successfully added the thermostat back, but again the sensor won’t connect.

The error I get says ‘we’re having trouble communicating to the nest service..’ after scanning the QR code.

Thanks!

So I was online with a couple of techs to sort it out. They walked me through the same steps like a million times. Nothing would work.

A few hours later I checked the voltage on my nest (settings/technical data, from the app). When they couldn’t connect it was at 3.78v. I saw somewhere they will only connect when it’s 3.8v and above. This seems to be the case.

My voltage was above or at 3.8 and they paired with no issue. I would suggest keeping an eye on that number and trying when it’s sufficient.

Hope this helps!

Hey there,

@thesoftest, awesome — glad to hear that your issue is fixed.

@lojo4, could you check if you have the same power readings suggested above?

Best,
Mel

I don’t know about the power readings, but mine worked when I tried the next day
