Nest thermostat issue

mah8292

Had to replace Wi-Fi router and need to reconnect thermostat. I removed the thermostat from the Google home app not knowing that I would have to remove it from the wall to scan the QR code to reinstall it. I have no idea how to get it off the wall. Is there any alternative way to reinstall it in the app?

No I'm afraid, as the QR code and setup code are physically printed on the back of the thermostat display. You should just be able to pull the thermostat off its base. Once finished, press the thermostat back onto the base until it clicks into place.

Hi mah8292,

Just one final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.

Thanks,

Unfortunately I followed a post that said to remove my nest thermostat from the app and reinstall it to connect to my new Wi-Fi router. I don’t know how to remove it from the wall to rescan the QR code. Can anyone help me?

the thermostat is 2 pcs. The base mounts to the wall and connects the wires and the 2nd part connects to the base. Just pull the top part away from the base gently.

Thanks! Finally got it apart and after numerous tries got the factory reset done. That ring doesn’t like me. But we are back on business with the new router.
