Nest thermostat won’t connect to wifi

Hello,

I have tried to restart/reset the nest thermostat and the app on the phone but I’m still having issues connecting to the internet. It won’t even show the internet name on the thermostat.  All other devices are working with the wifi. I restarted the wifi as well.  Please help.

Same problem. I just got a Nest E new in box, still shrinkwrapped, and it never shows any Wifi stations, just sits searching forever. I tried configuring everything else, then resetting all, same issue. I'm very disappointed. Going to have to unwire it and go back to my previous thermostat.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the delayed response. I want to check on your Nest thermostats further.

A few questions — are you getting a specific message or code on your Nest thermostat displays or Nest app when trying to get them connected to a Wi-Fi network? If yes, what is it? Also, is this happening to any networks like a mobile hotspot?

Please tell me more so I can dig deeper into it.

Best,

Melba

My Nest E doesn't give any error message. When I go to the WiFi section, it just hangs on Searching, never shows any WiFi networks to connect to. Manually entering SSID also doesn't work. I have to manually cancel WiFi scanning to get back to the settings menu.

Hey blargg,

Thanks for these added details. To confirm, this happens even to any networks you're attempting to connect it to, right? Have you tried maybe setting it up using a mobile hotspot if possible?

Best,

Melba

Yes, any networks. I just tried a mobile hotspot and the moment I OK the password on the Nest, it says Failed to connect, no delay for even trying to connect. (I verified that the same credentials typed in manually on a phone connects to the hotspot.) I tried resetting Network, and restarting, same thing.

  • Same problem. Is there a support # to call?

I have the same issue. My thermostat was working for 2 years and then it disconnected from WiFi and won’t reconnect. I’ve reset it. Restarted my router. Restarted my phone. And it won’t add to the app without WiFi. What’s wrong??
thank you

I have the same issue with my Nest Learning 3rd gen. always searching for wifi. I do have good voltage and a C wire. 2 days of trying to connect...very frustrated. I does run my AC/Heat system properly, but so did my 25 year old, cheap thermostat. Wishing for better TECH SUPPORT!

SAME! Had one same thing had to replace it, 5 months after the replacement it happened again and they are unwilling to help because it only had a 3 month replacement. Nest tech support is not helpful and keep putting out inferior products as per what I have seen. I have had a cheap Honeywell Wi-Fi for 5 years and it works great at my business. I will be going back to that, unless someone else can figure out a way to fix this.

Hi LaVerne2003,

Thanks for posting and sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Did you get a message on your Nest Thermostat's display when trying to connect it to Wi-Fi?

Best,

Mel

I just answered them, Thanks for the heads up.

Hello LaVerne2003,

I'm sorry if you have to go through this, and I thank you for your patience with us.

I understand how important it is to you. You can still continue using it to adjust the temperature manually even if it's no longer connecting to a Wi-Fi network. But If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know before we lock this thread in 24 hours.

It just can not connect to Wi-fi is the only thing that comes up. Talked to tech support and we troubleshooted for an hour. They said that black Friday sales were coming up and I should purchase another.
