Second user on Nest thermostat

We are trying to connect my wife’s phone to Nest thermostat as a second user, mine is already connected.  We go to settings, nest app but it tells us it is already connected to an account.  How can we get my wife’s phone connected to the thermostat?   There is a lot of postings out there but not a clear answer

Hi there. You as the first person to connect is the owner of the thermostat. You both have to download the nest app, download another app called Google smart life. Your wife needs a Gmail account. You have to request additional family member from the Google smart life using her Gmail account. She will get an invite and needs to accept. Then she will be able to work it. We have just had it installed and had ro do the same. Hope you get sorted

I am trying to add my girlfriend, who lives with me, as another user of my Nest thermostat.  I sent her an invitation, which shows up in her email.  Her email is NOT a gmail.  I clicked on the invitation and it takes me to Google Home.  But, this is where it's different from the instructions above.  There is no invitation on the Google Home screen on her iPhone.  That means there is no way to Accept the invitation.  What is wrong?  How can something so simple is so complicated?

Yes, sounds similar to my experience. I'm trying to control my thermostat. A family member has access to the thermo, but not me.

I received an invite, but that's a dead end.

My steps:

click View Invitation, and I'm invited to install Google Home, but it's ALREADY installed.

open G Home, see my home called 'Cabin' and an invitation to add devices

click Settings, I see nothing about devices, or a thermostat.

Expected: I'd see some way to access, add, or control my thermostat. But no...
