Thermostat willing connect to Wi-Fi after factory reset.

I am having issues with a fairly new gen 3 learning thermostat. It was installed in May and added to an existing nest app account. The nest app account was linked with an old ISP (cox email) which I closed as part of a move. At some point in the last couple of weeks the nest app failed at login stating it sent a verification code to the closed cox email address. I had forgotten that my nest account was tied to the old cox email.

in order to try and solve my nest app account issue I decided tonfactory reset my new nest. The full reset seemed to work and I completed the thermostat setup. Then I deleted the nest app from my iPhone and iPad. Rebooted both of them and reinstalled the nest app on both from App Store. After install I tried setting up a new account using an existing gmail account. Then I used that google account to try and configure the nest app with the thermostat. At that point the app is able to connect with the thermostat and take me to the point where I can select the Wi-Fi network from list and then enter the password.

On each attempt to connect to the Wi-Fi the nest fails. There is no problem with the network. All other IOT devices are on the Specified network. I am speculating this has something to do with the fact the thermostat or app had been configured with my old nest account. The thermostat should still be in warranty.

Do you see any error message like when you click learn more there is TD something with random numbers when it fails to connect to the WiFi or M15?

Not sure after about 10 more tries i was able to get the WIFI connection setup manually on the nest. Now I have to figure out how to connect the app without having it want to try and configure the thermostat for wifi again.

Hi folks,

@Anonymous, thanks for reaching out.

@Flipbit14, how's it going with your Nest Thermostat? Were you able to set it up to the Nest app?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Edward
