I would like to use my Nest thermostat in my garage. I just want to keep the temp above freezing - 35 degrees. Can I set the temperature that low? I know many thermostats won't go below 5o degrees F

The set temp will not go below 50 BUT you can set a safety temp which overrides the thermostat all together. In other words, if the thermostat is set to off and safety temp is turned on, Nest won’t let the temp drop below the safety temp set. And fortunately for you, the lowest value available in safety temp is 35.

Ok - thanks. So I can set the safety at 35, turn the heat off with my phone and turn it back on with my phone- all remotely?

Yep! The safety temp will run regardless of the heat set temp. If the thermostat is set to off, the garage will stay at 35. If it’s set to on, it’ll heat to whatever you’ve set it to.

Thanks, Dan. One more question: Can I turn off the safety temperature remotely? I may want to turn it off COMPLETETLY - no water pipes. But there are times when I don't want even the safety temp.
Thanks, Eric

Yes, safety temp can be set and turned on/off from the app just as you would with set temp/heat mode on/off
