Wiring Compatibility for Nest Thermostat (non-learning)

Looking to purchase Nest Thermostat for my heat pump system, but before doing so I want to understand if my current wiring will work and what it should be especially as I have a R/RC jumper.

Yes, your current thermostat is compatible with the Google Nest Thermostat.

Try this wiring.

White - AUX/E to W (set as Aux Heat)

Green - G to G

Orange - O/B to */OB

Blue - Not used

Yellow - Y to Y

Red - R to R (jumper to RC not needed)

It looks like they just connected the blue wire to keep it out of the way. I would check and see how it is connected at the terminal block on the control board in the furnace/air handler. Hopefully, they have it connected to the C terminal. If they do, then you can connect it to the C terminal on the Nest.

If it's not connected to anything, then connect it to the C terminal on both ends.

When the Google Home App asks for the wire that you have, select these.

W/W1/, Y/Y1, G/G1, O/B, and R

Also select C if you install a C wire.
