Not sure what to do with the black wire on the new nest thermostat. E7FBC5C3-8FA6-4C4C-8918-9F18804A5D17.jpeg

Your system has 2-stage heating (W and W2). It looks like the black wire is on W and the white wire is on W2. The black wire will go to W1/Aux, and the white wire will go to W2.

Tried that and the unit will still not put cool air out. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do you have a heat pump or a conventional system? If you are not sure you can look at the terminal block on the control board in the furnace/air handler and see where the black wire is connected.

If it is connected to the W terminal then you have a conventional system, if it's connected to the O, B, or O/B terminal it is a heat pump.

Hey CH714,

Sorry for the late reply. I wanted to follow up and see I could be of any help. Do you mind me asking if you are still having trouble with your system not cooling? I did find an article with some troubleshooting steps that could help resolve the issue you are having. Let me know if that helps, or if you have any questions from here.

Best regards,
Jake
