"Problem Connecting to Cloud" not allowing thermostat to connect to Home

While setting up my Nest Thermostat, I reach a point where I'm being asked if I have any of theses devices already set up, which I don't. When I choose "No". I get a prompt to create a new Nest Network. When I choose create, I get an error "Problem Connecting to Cloud" and just can't proceed. Any help pls

I haven't had this problem! But whenever my system doesn't want to connect I have to make sure everything is connected properly and connected to my cell phone. Every so often I'll get a system error on my cell phone but within 5 minutes it reconnects with no issues and since I replaced the factory batteries in the sensors everything works perfectly fine. But every so often I have to when the power goes out for an extended period of time reset our jump start the Google nest thermostat hub so it can start pulling power from the home

Thanks, but the thing is it connects to my friends phone normally. So just worried it's related to iOS

Hi @essmarazek

There are some known issues with users that have the Apple Private Relay enabled on their iCloud.

Maybe worth disabling this feature? 😊

thanks @RXShorty, had it disabled already 😞

any other thing you can think of?

Hi @essmarazek

Do you have any kind of VPN enabled on your device?

Hi @RXShorty no as well

Hello folks,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for assisting here, @Vinnyhartlove and @RXShorty

@essmarazek, I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues adding your Nest Thermostat to the Google Home app. Let's sort this out.

  • Ensure you’re not using a Google Suite or a Google Workspace email address to configure your Nest Thermostat.
  • Try rebooting your router and your phone for at least 2 minutes to refresh the connection.
  • Create a new home structure, then setup the device. Follow this guide on how to create structures.

Please let me know if that works.

Best regards,

Mark

Hi essmarazek,

I'm checking back in. Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you — I'd like to make sure everything is working.

Thanks,

Mark

hi @Markjosephp,

the steps didn't make it work unfortunately.

Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to us and for trying, @essmarazek. Let's give it another shot.

Going over these steps here might help:

  1. Uninstall and re-install the Google Home app.
  2. Try setting up the device again, and if the issue persists, try using a different mobile device.
  3. Install the Google Home app and proceed with the setup.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best,

Mark
