Good day,
I am unable to connect my second nest wifi point to the nest wifi router. I see the point in the google home app, but it is listed under "other cast devices". I cannot click on it and even after resetting I can't modify any settings.
Has anyone encountered the same issue? How did you fix it?
Thanks,

Yes, I am having the exact same problem with a brand new Nest Wifi Router and Point pack. I'm probably going to return it.

Just sent back my google mesh and purchased the ASUS AX mini system. Set up perfectly the 1st time and works amazing. Can’t wait around for answers that don’t appear to be coming anytime soon.

Same here. I’ve spent 2 hours of my life on this.

I am facing the same problem. Have tried factory reset, delete home, having the 2nd wifi point right next to the router but no luck. After deleting home and recreating a new one, now the get the error 'Could not communicate with your nest wifi point' funnily get this message after scanning successfully the QR code and when it says connected.

Hi Notorious, Yes having similar problems to you and @Msn411 - In some of my troubleshooting I think I found that maybe google hardwired the unit as "one point" (router and point) rather than the two pack (router and 2pts). You can buy an optional single point ~$120. Stands to reason you could add an optional single point to a one pt system, but I think not. Only one of the points can be connected to the mesh at any given time, and the other turns into a dumb speaker. Google, please confirm and also why is this post marked resolved? thanks in advance!

Hi, everyone.
Sorry for the setup issues you're having. This is actually a known issue that's being looked at and worked on by internal teams. I don't have any information as of yet for when we might see a fix on this, but I will definitely update the thread as I find out more. I'm hoping to have news soon. Sorry for all the frustration this has been causing.
One thing that has worked for some people is to repeat the setup, but to change the order in which they are setting up the points. It doesn't always work, but it has worked for some people and it's worth giving a try.
Thanks.

Jeff, any update on this issue? I just purchased an additional point from Google and having the same issue. The resolutions I see in this thread is to purchase a solution from another vendor.

google sells these wifi points and advertises them that can connect up tp 5- but that is not true, cannot ever connect more than 2. this is totally misrepresenting your capability!!!

Thanks for getting back Jeff, anything you can do is appreciated!

Hi, all. I'm still waiting for answers on a fix or resolution here, but in the meantime, if you're having issues let's try resetting your connection to cloud services. It often clears up communication problems and might work for some of you. Here's that process.
Open the Google Home app.
Tap the WiFi icon.
Tap Settings.
Select Privacy settings.
Toggle Nest WiFi cloud services OFF and wait for 30 seconds, then back ON.
Once done, close the Home app and perform a full network restart to ensure that the new settings are in place. To do this, I would recommend doing a power cycle on your network.
Disconnect the power adapter and the Ethernet cable from the Nest WiFi router.
Disconnect the power adapter from the Nest WiFi points.
Disconnect the power adapter from the modem. Allow all devices to stay disconnected from the power for 5 minutes.
Connect the power back to the modem only and wait for it to fully back up. All lights should be lit up before moving to the next step.
After the modem is back online, connect the Ethernet cable back to Nest WiFi router's WAN port (globe symbol port).
Connect the power back to the Nest WiFi router and to the Nest WiFi points. Wait until they're all fully back on.
If you still have issues after this, let me know. I'll update the thread as I get more information, but for now, I'm still waiting on more from our internal teams. Thanks.

Have tried all of the tips in your last post Jeff and still cannot connect my 2 additional points. My home point is set just fine though
01-24-2022 03:46 PM
I have done all this. Still nothing.
03-27-2022 07:20 PM
Nope, nothing is working. I had the Google Nest and enjoyed it for a few months that it worked. But this is ridiculous, I just spent 4 hours and every time I reset, I am getting a new error.
I guess I will just get another router and will throw this in the trash where it belongs.

did this too many times. have wasted tons of money and effort and too late to return the extra wifi points now, can only connect 2 and no more. this is a huge flaw in the google system and advertising

Having the same problem have repeated all the steps, still can't connect
01-18-2022 10:30 AM
Hi, everyone.
I'm still waiting to hear more about this from our teams on this. I'm hoping to have an update to share soon. I will post here if I get news of a fix.
Thanks.

Thanks Jeff, the sooner the better. I don’t want to g through the hassle of returning everything and looking around for other options as I’m sure no one does. There has to be a bug fix for this with as many problems as I’m seeing across multiple threads not just this one. Keep us posted

I am having a similar problem. I have my google mesh system and it's been running for 7 months just fine. Now, one of my points will not connect to wifi. Continuously says it is offline. When I ask it to connect o wi-fi, it says "wifi isn't available on your device"
01-20-2022 03:34 AM
I also have the same problem. I am replacing Google Wifi with Nest Wifi. I cannot add new Nest Wifi Point to the new Nest Router. The set-up fails at the last step after connecting the Nest Point to the WIFI network, process timed out... I can easily identify new AP, I can connect to it after scanning the QR code, but then...the white light blinks for some time and disapers completely and then the Google Home app dispaly the error about connection timed out...So frustrating. I have intention to return Nest Wifi duo back to the store and stay with my old Google WIFI set. How to get a direct assistance from Google tech?

I am having exactly the same issues my secondary Nest refuses to connect even after factory resetting and moving it to different locations within the house. I have even tried to connect with it placed right next to the main unit. I need help!
01-20-2022 03:31 PM
It’s definitely frustrating. I basically have $200.00 paperweights and no help from Google unfortunately
01-21-2022 06:42 AM
I believe I am having the same issue.
Router point successfully set up.
Try to add wifi points and the google home app either gets stuck on "looking for devices" or trips out and repeatedly asks me what type of device I am searching for
01-21-2022 11:49 AM
Yes this is a real problem, Google need to act and give us a fix asap!
01-21-2022 03:57 PM
Spoke to Google support via live chat and they helped me sort it. Mine is all cleared up.
01-21-2022 05:03 PM
Interesting that they have not come back to me at all.
was is complicated to rectify?
01-21-2022 05:40 PM
I have not been able to get a live person the 3x I have tried to call in

Share the details of what you had to do if you don’t mind

So what did you have to do?

Good for you, unfortunately I can no longer return it. 😞 Does it cover the whole house? How big is the coverage? I think I am ready to throw mine in the garbage and start a new system too?

I too had the same problem, like many others. No clue why it's so complicated. I tried the method you described above but unfortunately that too failed. What did work, randomly, was downloading the Google Home App to a different phone (my wife's phone), signing in from there, and using that phone to add the router/point. Im not sure why this worked, since she uses the latest iphone and iOS, just like me. But in any case, things are working as they should. Just factory reset your router, download the app on a different phone, and add the device. Im not sure this will work for everyone, but fingers crossed, its something else for people to try that are out of options....

This fixed the issue for me! Thanks for sharing

I found this thread after having difficulties adding 2 new nest points to a ~3yo nest router+point two pack. I’ve tried all the tips here, many factory resets of the whole system, different order, different devices. Only the original point will ever connect. I even tried the iPad app and a cheap android phone but nothing will get the new points to join the mesh.
I also joined the points to a non-google system just so they’d update to the latest software but nope.
It’s a shame because I love the speaker points but it’s super frustrating.
any new ideas? I spoke with a support rep and they’re “escalating to a higher team” but I suspect there’s just something wrong with the new hardware versions.
Edit: I should note that I’m now in the UK which is where I bought the new devices but the old ones are from the US.

hi sorry for the late response. im not sure why google hasnt addressed this topic. Im not sure what to do for your situation unfortunately - i dont have any points (just routers) - and the ONLY thing that worked for me was using a different phone with the exact same iOS version. hmmm. I wish I could offer you something more. I TOTALLY get how frustrating and annoying this is. Its enough to get me to consider a different brand when its time to upgrade!
03-16-2022 12:31 AM
I ended up buying another router, officially the same model. All of my points paired with the new router just fine, in fact even the older point from the US pairs with the new router. It's fine, in any case I want a second router that's always connected to my US VPN so the old one isn't just a paper weight. Annoying that google can't figure this out, there's clearly a problem with the older routers and newer points being actually compatible.

Hi, everyone.
I know this has been a long and ongoing issue for many of you and the thread has gone a lot of directions. I just wanted to jump in with some info and a bit of news. First, there is a firmware update that is rolling out right now. You won't need to do anything to receive the update as they are pushed out automatically to all devices that are online. That update will restart your network and apply some new settings and fixes.
If you are still having setup issues at this point, a few things you can try include:
Hopefully the firmware update brings some resolution to you. Look for that to land soon.
Thanks.

How can I verify if my Router has the latest version? is there any way to connect directly to the Access Point and get it updated?
03-30-2022 09:25 AM
Hey, everyone.
As an update for you all, I wanted to let you know that we have a firmware update coming out now. Some people may have already received the update, but most will see it coming still. Everyone will have it before the end of April. If you receive that update and don't see an improvement in your issues here, please let me know and we can keep looking into things.
Thanks.

Thanks Jeff, I was poking around the Home App today to see if I could tell if my device received the firmware update. The point that I previously could not connect setup through the standard method in the Home App. I did not need to take any actions previously suggested to get it to work.
Thank you.

I am having all the issues stated above. How do I check if my router has received the update?
