Bought condo with Yale lock, is Connect needed?

Hi,

I recently purchased a condo that has a Nest Yale lock. I want to change the code.

I saw when factory resetting it you create a temporary code, and then set it permanently in the app.

I don't have a Nest Connect  - am I still able to use the lock without one? I'm uninterested in smart/internet connected features, I simply want to be able to type a code and it opens.

I would also potentially be interested in creating secondary/temporary codes. On another lock I was able to connect with my phone via bluetooth, is that the case here? Or do I need to purchase a Nest Connect to do so.

Thanks!

I mean sure. You could continue to use the master passcode (the temporary code you mentioned) and never connect it to the internet or the Nest app. By doing so, you obviously lose a lot of its features.

Nest × Yale Lock needs a Nest Connect, Nest Guard, or Nest Hub Max to get internet connection. It doesn’t connect directly to Wi-Fi. You must have one of these devices already connected to the Nest app to add the Nest × Yale lock.

Can I use it without connecting to WiFi, setting codes manually on the device?

Can I set a single code manually on the device otherwise?

I do not want my lock to be internet connected.

So it's not able to connect via bluetooth like other locks are? Such as https://www.homedepot.com/p/Kwikset-Aura-Satin-Nickel-Single-Cylinder-Electronic-Bluetooth-Keypad-Sm...

Thank you,

I'll probably be switching it out for a lock which has those features that can be used offline then.

Thank you!

No it's not designed that way unfortunately.
