Factory Reset on Nest Guard

Jackielynne

We just bought a house with a nest guard and I’m having a hard time setting it up. I reset it by holding down the number 5 until it turned blue and said “hello”. When I use the app to try to set it up and find the device it says I have to return the guard to factory settings. What can I do?

The process you've just described restarts Nest Guard, and doesn't reset it to factory settings. Let's try these steps:

  1. Remove Nest Secure from your account in the Nest app.
  2. Set Nest Secure to Off with Nest Guard’s keypad, or the alarm may sound.
  3. Press and hold the 2 button on Guard’s keypad. Do not release the button while Guard goes through a software version and check. When Guard says, “Release to erase all settings,” let go of the button.
  4. Guard will speak again and say, “Erasing all settings and returning to factory defaults in five seconds. Press any button to cancel.”
  5. The light ring should turn yellow and begin a 5-second countdown.
  6. To cancel the reset, press any button before the countdown ends. If you don’t cancel, the light ring will spin blue and Guard will say, “Erasing all settings. This might take a minute."
  7. When it’s about to restart, it should say, "Nest Guard is restarting. Be right back."

Thank you! That worked. Now how do we connect the doorbell and all the sensors to it?

Hi, everyone.
As we haven't had any activity here recently I'm going to go ahead and close the thread. If you have more to add, feel free to start a new discussion.

I've linked a help centre article below that explains how to do that.
