Nest deadbolt retracted latch hole is vertical

Hello,

When I try and re-install my nest lock, it is backwards. Locking unlocks the door and locking locks the door. I recenlty had the door replaced. I have tried to re-install the lock and the instructions do not match up to my deadbolt. When I get to the step about installing the deadbolt, the latch hole on my deadbolt is vertical, not horizontal when the deadbolt is fully retracted. Is there some way that can get reversed?

Thank you

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this, I would love to look into this further for you. If you haven't already, you can learn here how to factory reset your Yale lock, which may help to reset issues it may be having. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Brad

Yes.  I have factory reset several times.  Best result so far has been the lock will turn, but it is backwards.  Locking results in unlocking and vice versa.  I think the problem is the alignment of the latch slot in the bolt.   I have ordered a new bolt to see if that will allow me to re-install and reset the lock.  I cannot see any way in which the latch slot in the bolt could have been changed or how to change it back.

Thank you for the response.

@sxmalone

If you need too, you can reach out to Yale to see if their support can offer any further troubleshooting options, but I believe that looking into a new bolt, may be the resolution you are looking for. Please keep me updated, and let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Brad

Thank you for the kind replies.  I recieved the replacement bolt and installed it.  After one more factory reset, the lock is now working.  How the orientation of the old bolt was wrong is still a mystery.  But, lock works!

Hi there,

Awesome! Glad to hear that the Yale support team has sent a replacement deadbolt and we appreciate you sharing the steps that fixed your lock’s issue. As we got our resolution here, I'm going to mark this thread as resolved. I'll be locking this thread if we won't hear back from you again in 24 hours. Should that happen, feel free to create a new one if you have more questions or have other concerns in the future.

I appreciate the help here, Brad and Archie.
