I can't log into my nest account

Nivlact

I have not migrated, but now find my doorbell does not work as I can't sign in anymore. If I request a password change it sends me the link but when I try to change it it says there is an error. I know my password why will it not let me sign in on any device? the internet connection is fine.

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community forum. I'm sorry for the trouble this has caused you. Checking the Nest service status and using a different device to sign in might help us to isolate the issue.

You can follow the guide below:

1. Check the Nest service status. If there's a service outage, you'll need to wait for service to resume before you can sign in to your account.

2. Use a different web browser or the Nest app to sign in to your account. If using a different browser resolves your issue, troubleshoot the settings on your browser or device that might be preventing you from signing in.

3. Use a different device to sign in. Try a phone or tablet with the Nest app, or visit https://goo.gle/2qjvVSU on a computer. If you're trying to sign in at work, try a different Wi-Fi network, or turn off Wi-Fi and sign in using mobile data.

Important: If you're able to sign in on one device but not another, check the settings and menu options for the device that's giving you trouble. Certain browser, network, phone or router settings may be preventing you from signing in.

@Joejoe2, thanks for sharing your thoughts. If you have questions or concerns, please let us know. We'll be willing to assist you.

Best,

Jenelyn

I am having all the problems. I did not migrate for ever because I knew there would be problems. When my CC expired and google canceled my previous nest aware because of it, I was forced to migrate my account. Now I have no nest aware even though it's been paid for. My wife can no longer access nest on her phone, even though she has been added as a member the the house. Now I have no video recordings happening and my wife can't view anything. I have 4 cameras, a doorbell and a thermostat. I need help or I need to toss it all in the garbage.

Hello everyone,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries; we'll check this out. Just a few questions: When you tried to sign in on the sign-in page, did you select Sign in with Google or Sign in with Nest? Have you tried signing on to the webapp at https://goo.gle/2qjvVSU? Do you have other family members that still have access to your Nest devices?

I look forward to your response.

Best,
Edmond

No, is there a phone number I could call you

I have tried both, now it seems my old email login (not google) isn't working either.  I have 2 homes, one was added later, but it is winter and I cannot see my Vermont home which is troublesome.

Have tried signing in both ways and neither works through app. Can get in using web address but that’s not convenient at all.

Hi folks,

@Gasman17, thanks for joining the conversation. I’d be happy to help you with the Nest app.

If you haven’t done so already, follow the steps below:

  1. Open your mobile device's Settings > General > Date and Time. Tap Set Automatically, toggle it off, and then turn it back on. Make sure that the time zone, date, and time are correct.
  2. Make sure the Nest app has permission to use the phone's location.
  3. Check for any updates for the Nest app in the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. The latest version is 5.75.
  4. Check for any iOS or Android system updates and install them if there are any.
  5. Uninstall the Nest app, restart your mobile device, and then reinstall the Nest app.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Lance

Same problem, I was able to log into Nest to see my home but now it disappeared off my nest/google app

Could we talk please

Hi.   Am having the same problems.   Can't get access to Nest any more.   Worked 2 days ago.   Tried to migrate a while back but already had a gmail address.   Apparently something went wrong.   Tried to migrate the devices today, but see that they are "locked" in another account.  Get get access to remove per the instructions.   No access to 9 devices now.  Please help.

The address works but the nest app still doesn’t. How do I get the app to let me sign in?

Thx

Hello, Mikeog.

I ended up going to Googles Customer Service page and initiated a Chat session and lo and behold a real person helped me through the issue.  Here is the link for the customer service for the Nest product.  https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp?issue_description=cannot+log+into+nest&sjid=1192802339...

I filled in the first pop up menus and then Chat showed up as an option.  Hope this helps.

Side note - As it turns out the issue is that I had forgotten I had migrated my Nest account to Google so all I really needed to do was login using my Google account and all was well.

I have the same issue. Migrated to google and can rarely access my nest therm or cameras since. I use the app and try the browser thru multiple devices. Wgen I try the login link given above (https://goo.gle/2WSvFX3) or My Nest Home from the menu, there is only a 403 Forbidden error displayed. Been going on for a week! These are now as useful as $200 pet rocks.

At least they send you a link...I can't login on one computer...neither with gmail or nest...and their support is useless...at least on a Sunday...no link...no answer...no nothing...I think I should switch to Ring.com

Hello MucBean,

We appreciate your efforts in posting here. I'd like to know, do you use the https://goo.gle/2qjvVSU webpage or the Nest app? Do you select "Sign in with Nest" or "Sign in with Google"? Have you tried signing in your same email address with the Google Home app? Do you see any error messages? In case you do, kindly share the screenshot here.

Looking forward to your response.

Emerson

I did this, gave my info to get a call back. I got a call (Montreal number, I'm in Canada) and on the other end was a bunch of giggling, chatting women. No response to my "Hello, Hello...?"  My Nest app is useless now, and there is no customer support that I can find.

Hi MucBean

Did you ever receive a resolution to your problem?  I am having the same problem.  Was working fine then all of a sudden, can't log in and it doesn't send me an email with a new password.  UGH!!

Hi djd722,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To confirm, is your account migrated? Is your 2-step verification enabled?

If you don't get the password reset email:

  • Double check that you entered the email address that you used to sign up for your account.
  • Double check that you use a Nest Account, not a Google Account
  • Try checking your spam, junk or trash folders.
  • Try requesting the reset password email again.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Emerson

This has happened to me again. The first time it had me migrate to a google account. Then I upgraded my phone and lost the login. I did find someone online who helped but it was painful. Spent over an hour with one person, finally got another and had it fixed in 10 minutes.  Now the app suddenly won't let me log in again. Tried the call back from Customer Service and when they pick up it's a bunch of girls laughing and giggling in a a foreign language. WTF??  SO FRUSTRATED. I would NEVER recommend Nest propducts.

I just started having this issue using the Nest App not google home or google.  I went to check my camera and it said I needed to log in.  Tried logging in and I received the message that my email or password may be incorrect.  Tried hitting the Forgot Password and no email ever came with a reset of password.  Please advise.

I was unable to log into the Nest website using my linked Google account. When I tried, it would appear to succeed briefly, but then loop back to the login page, with no error indication that I noticed. On a hunch, I enabled third-party cookies on the site, and login worked. The irony level here is quite high. 🙂

GF71

Great catch! It worked for me too. And after I enabled third-party cookies on the web site and logged in, it started working on the app too. Not sure I understand the correlation, but it worked. Thank you!

Interesting that it had any effect on your app login. I'll have to ponder that one a bit.

On the web, what's going on is an effect of the incomplete merging of Nest and Google. Google login requires a cookie to be set on google.com, but you're logging in from the domain nest.com, which makes the google.com cookie a 3rd-party cookie (as described here). It's good policy to disable 3rd-party cookies in Chrome; I think it may be the default now. Disabling the google.com cookie makes it impossible for a page on nest.com to tell that you've logged in. You'd think Google would test for this situation and provide an intelligible error message if it happens. Ah, well.

GF71
Community Member

One explanation could be that they store something at user level. Some sort of flag that, for some kind of bug, prevented the login on the mobile app too. It is a situation either not tested or horribly gone wrong.
