After a power outage my RING. Always reconnects but my NEST requires a manual reset and manual WIFI connect. I see that hundreds of other people what posted with this same problem. I live 300 miles away from this vacation home so I can’t manually adjust it. From reading the other posts with the same problem I assume that you will beat around the bush, not resolve the issue and then close this thread because I was not spending my entire day waiting to respond to you promptly. This seems to be the way it goes when a great innovative company like NEST is bought out by a giant company with no one responsible to the consumer like Google.
Sometimes there is a problem with the actual routers DHCP address, pool, and the leases, and that causes kind of a problem to show up. One of the ways around this is to use your nest thermostats, MAC address, and go to your router and reserve a specific IP address to be served to this Mac address in the address reserve pool of the DHCP pool of addresses. In doing so there will never be a conflict between an existing lease and a request for a replacement lease which tends to cause this problem. If you have remote access to the router that services your Wi-Fi, you can remotely login and create a reserved address. You should understand however, some of the cheaper routers do not allow remote access changes to the DHCP address pool.

Thanks for the invite and suggestions. The router is brand new that has the modem and router combined, an expensive one ($400) and one that was suggested by Xfinity for their service. I replaced it because i was having this problem with my very old router and modem separate combination. I will give your suggestion a try, if I can figure out how to do that. Will my Nests MAC address be written on the back of it or is there a way I can find it on the NEST app when I am connected?
When you check the Nest using the app, you can look for Technical Info and you will see WiFi MAC. The same is available on the thermostat under Technical Info.

@Garberark, I'm sorry to hear that your thermostats won't reconnect to your Wi-Fi networks after a power outage. The Nest Thermostats might take a while to completely recharge, depending on how long the power went out. When the thermostats drop the battery voltage, they disable the smart features, including the network connection, in order to save the battery.
Could you please check your thermostat's power readings? Go to the Technical Info > Power. Let me know how it goes.
