Nest app freezes during setup of thermostat

So I have my new nest thermostat up and running except the nest app won’t let me finish setting everything up within the app. I get to the point where it asks me which room I installed the thermostat in and when I click dining room the app freezes and won’t continue. I’ve uninstalled the app, restarted my phone to no avail tho. Any suggestions?

Same here.  Been trying for an hour.   Pick a room.  Boom. Frozen.  Restarted/ disconnected 3 times so far.

Have  you found a fix?   I am just so pissed with this app and my thermostat! Google has gotten too big for it's britches  lol  They don't want to talk to anyone, not even a live chat 

 

Same problem here!!!

No support any where. I have stopped using google browser and boycotting any of their products. Going with Ring instead of Nest (Google) cameras!!!

This happened to me too so I selected the room I wanted, put the phone down, and walked away for 10 minutes. When I got back the setup was complete.

I tried that and it appeared to work, but then at the next step it froze in pace but the little icon kept spinning like it was doing something….for 30 minutes, until I got disgusted again and closed the app.

Same issue the it gives me an M15 error. Completely frustrated

Update!

When everything else failed I reset my iPhone. That did the trick but I don't know why.

When you say reset, what does that mean? Just restarted it?

I did that too, didn't help  UGH.  Sorry I bought this thermostat 

reset everything and this time just put the phone down after choosing the room the thermostat is in. Wait 3-5 min. It has worked every time  I've done this. Then it will move forward with the install. This is not on nest. It seems to only happen with iPhones.

This worked for me!  Just wait.

Same here! Restarting iPhone did not help. And, this is the 3rd Nest Thermostat I've installed, 2nd one in this house, and never had this happen. 

You are right. After i restarted my iPhone everything worked for a little while. Then it reverted to it's old ways. Sorry for the bad tip.

a successful way to get around the issue, similar to waiting for your phone to move to the next screen, is the finish the set up on another device such as an iPad which is linked to the same account. Once you access the account on the IPad you’ll see that the unassigned thermostat asks to finish the set up. Continue with the set up by choosing the location which can be done almost simultaneously as the original device.

After trying everything I could read on Google and forums, became VERY frustrated. Found this comment and tried to be patient. I was trying to connect on my iPad, it (finally) let me choose a room (even though it didn’t show a check mark, it just seemed like the app was frozen as always at this point) THEN it froze with the icon spinning. Checked my phone and voila, the dining room unit is set up now. Now to see if the bedroom will do the same thing….

OK, I figured it out! The solution is...patience! After removing/resetting the thermostat multiple times, including resetting my iPhone, I went through the process again. This time, once I chose the desired location, the point at which it locked up every time, I just set my iPhone down and let it run. Sure enough, after a minute or so, it went to the next step! All is good now, running perfectly!

This actually worked. It takes about 3 minutes to get past this “freeze”. Which is painfully long but that’s all it takes… is time. Leave app open - walk away for a few minutes and come back. Done.

in my case it freezes before I check the thermostat location and doesn’t unfreeze even if I wait

Hey, I’m having the same issue and restarting the iPhone and the app are not working

Yes still having issues!  Freezes up. Have tried all of these.  Not working.  

Still need help.  Waiting doesn't work. Freezes over and over.  Tried everything. 

When you click on the area it’s installed do nothing! When you see the checkmark put your phone down and come back after 3-5 minutes and it will be on the next page. I know it’s weird but it works by doing absolutely nothing

That worked but I never did see the check mark but five minutes later moved to the next screen and let me finish. Please fix and save a lot of people a lot of frustration
