I have a Nest doorbell and it does do live and video records but the doorbell itself doesn't ring 95% of the time. My son is having the same issue. Both are in covered front porches.

Do you have a Google Nest Hello Doorbell that is a couple of years old? Is it by any chance going offline for a minute whenever the doorbell is pressed?
If so, you may have the same failing internal battery affecting many other customers. The only workaround is to turn off the "Indoor chime" option, turn on the "Visitor announcements" option, and purchase a Nest Hub or Nest Mini.

No, it still isn't ringing but I am able to get a video from it so guess I'll keep it until it totally dies. I sure am disappointed in it though.

Hello gogal,
I'm sorry you're still having trouble with this. Let’s sort this out — a few questions: what type of doorbell do you have? What’s the status light? Also, is the Quiet Time feature off in your Nest or Google Home app?
Thanks,
JT

I looked in "about" and it just says Nest Doorbell (wired). No quiet time is enabled in the Google Home App. Sorry I'm not more tech savy but I appreciate your help.

Hey there,
Thanks for your patience. We appreciate you checking that for us. Try restarting your doorbell this time.
Here’s how:
Tip: Don’t unscrew the wires attached to the back of your doorbell.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
JT

Thank you so much for following up but I don't have an idea what the release tool is 😬 and will have to ask my son to come and look at it. He has a two year old, so his time is limited. I do thank you for trying to help and will post any resolution.
