Hey folks,

Thanks for sharing all the details about the issue.

We understand this issue has been happening for quite some time now, but rest assured that our team is aware of this and looking into this issue at hand. Please try to plug in the device to a different power outlet, then attempt a reset.

If unresolved, perform the workaround below:

  1. At the back of the Nest display, unplug the power cord and wait for 10 seconds, then plug it back in and wait until the screen with the "G" logo shows up
  2. Repeat the first step, 10 more times.
  3. After the customer plugs the power cord back in, wait for the device to reset. The device announces "Welcome to Google Home" to signify that it's ready for setup.

Put your device to recovery mode:

  1. Put the device in Recovery Mode (Unplug the device, then perform a long press on the volume up and volume down buttons while the customer plugs the device back in. Once the device turns back on, release the volume buttons.)
  2. Once the device boots into Recovery Mode (a long press on both volume up and volume down buttons at the same time), attempt a factory reset.

If the above steps don't work, please reach out to us to get immediate support on this link: https://bit.ly/3adTfGB

Cheers,

Muddi

Same problem here stuck on G

My Google Nest Hub won't work. Only display G logo... I had tried factory reset, and still not work... Very difficult to get support...

Please register me a case number. This is outrageous so many people with same problem. I rely on hub in my day to day and it’s obviously an issue for hundreds of people and not our fault. Please advise case number and timeframe for resolution.

Looks like so many are having this same issue.  Is there a replacement plan or solution to this issue?  If not, please let us know so we can purchase a new device that works.  With this kind of support, you can be sure it won't be a Google product.

You should try for a replacement first. If unsuccessful, do not waste your time. Mine is 5months and they still refuse to replace as it was a gift.

Was there ever a solution for this?  I am experiencing this starting today.

I eventually got mine working today. When I brought mine back to factory settings I kept my finger on the top volume button for a few seconds and it started working a minute after that.

They’re sending me a replacement. I had to call and send photo documentation and a video and I’ll swap my Gen 1 for a Gen 2. The Google update bricked the Gen 1 Nest Hub. The customer service was very helpful!

Please create a case number for me as well. I cannot get anything but “G” despite trying to hard reset the recovery

Please add me to the list.  same problem. Same failed attempts to fix

I’m having the same issue. Screen it is stuck in grey with G in the middle. Tried a factory reset but coming back to the same screen

Google home hub stuck on G screen also. I asked it to play something and it said it was playing it on Netflix. I could here the sound but the screen stayed on a photo. I unplugged and got stuck on the G screen. I have tried all of the recommended steps. It went into recovery mode and when I do e the reset it has again stuck on the G screen. I have done this a number of times and still stuck on the G screen.  What do I do now?

I’m having same issue. Must be a problem with Google update. I tried factory reset, no go.

I am having the same issue

I have the same issue.  Nest Hub Max, purchased for Xmas.  Found it with grey screen and G logo this morning.  Unplugged for a while, replugged, no change.  Plugged in while holding volume button, goes to a black screen.  So, can't enter recovery mode nor factory reset.

I am having the same problem  - screen stuck on grey G screen and factory reset doesn’t reset it. Please help

I am in the very same situation since today, after reattaching it to a new power source. Resetting it does not work.

I solved it. You gotta hold the both buttons before plugging it back in and keep holding for ############ seconds it will ask you to hold for 10 seconds but hold for ############seconds i just fixed mine lmk if y’all need help.

Glad that that worked for you, but it doesn’t work for most people. After you get it to start resetting it goes back to the grey screen and sits there

thanks so much! It started to reset but when I let go of the buttons it goes back to the “G”. How long after the 10 seconds do you let go of the buttons?

Giobi

About 25 seconds, or 2 restarts.

Hi, I need this solution also please.

Thanks

I’m also having the same issue and I unplugged and plugged the power cord multiple times. I also did a factory reset in recovery mode but it still did the same thing. Please advise. Thank you!

is there anyone else interested in pursuing a classes action lawsuit with this issue, google has had ample time to sort this out and resolve the issue they have caused and have chosen not too.

I think your right. Google has to much power as it is. They need to be taken down a notch. I have an apple home pod as well, it has not had any issues at all. Ever since I’ve had my google home devices I’ve had all kinds of problems. If only apple ecosystem was more interactive,  worked with smart tvs to control the volume (not having to have Apple TV to do this), and a screen for the pod, I would totally switch.

We need a lawyer to advise us. Since they are ignoring the problem caused by their updates and there are too many cases. What are the obligations for recalls in the US. Can organisations just ignore problems caused?

I have 4 home hubs and 2 home hub max. One of the home hubs is not coming off the G screen no matter what I try. Please help.

I think getting everyone together that google refuses to help and pushing ahead with a class action lawsuit is the best option. They have bricked devices so people think it’s broken and go out and spend more to buy a replacement. It’s a joke.

Hello, my Google Hub now has this issue and is stuck on the grey screen.  Resets do not help.

Has any practical solution yet been found?

Same issue, need help

Mine isn't working either. None of the suggested fixes have helped. Please advise.

Open case with google, via chat. Calling them has been futile due to sheer number of people having same issue. It has to be a software glitch.  I opened case and still waiting to hear back as to the problem. Good luck!

Thanks!! I'm going to need luck to not lose my mind over this thing. I'm actually on the phone with someone right now who kindly informed me I'm out of warranty but to send her a picture of the issue.....I don't care if I'm out of warranty,  this is obviously an issue on their side based on the sheer number of people having this problem. They need to step up and fix it.

Absolutely right! Someone has mentioned filing a class action law suit if they don’t get it resolved. I’d join if it comes down to it.

I notice many of the concerns for this are from 2021 or earlier but my Hub just quit yesterday, showing only the grey screen with the Capital G in white, I tried the fixed mentioned and even deleted the device from my Samsung phone Google app but the app will not recognize the Hub anymore 😞 My Hub is only about a year old and I am very upset that this has happened.

I spoke with google today and they are aware of the situation, but still have no answers as to why this is happening. I would suggest to do an online chat with them. They are replacing my hub and since yours seems to be within their warranty, you should be able to do the same.  Hope this helps.

I also have a Nest Hub stuck on the grey G screen due to the upgrade that was pushed.  I have tried all resetting instructions but it keeps coming back to the grey G screen.  Please submit a case so I can get this replaced.  Thank you.
