I've noticed that there are a few other threads about finding Nest Protect that does not have an old manufacturing date. I have tried twice with the Google Store and have received one that was manufactured in 2020 and another in 2023. At this point, I'm losing hope that if I return and have them replace that I will receive a Nest Protect that has been manufactured within the last year.
After a grueling back and forth with both Google Store support and Nest support, I got nowhere. The only thing I was told was that they could not guarantee that I would receive a Nest Protect that is within one year of being manufactured because it is based on "product availability". I wish Google would at a minimum pro-rate what we're paying for these in the form of a discount. If I buy a product that has used up 1/5 of it's product life, I only want to pay 4/5. Any tips or pointers from others on what to do in this situation?

Maybe these previous threads can be of help.
Either swallow the loss, or try to contact Google to get them returned with a full refund. None of the threads above resulted in partial refund.
Depending on where you're from you might have some protection through consumer protection agencies, like FTC in USA ( https://www.ftc.gov/about-ftc/bureaus-offices/bureau-consumer-protection ). Worth checking out too.
