Chromecast volume too loud

Whenever I initially connect to chromecast and go to change the volume from my phone using the buttons on the side of my phone, the volume goes to 100% and it's super annoying! How do I prevent that?

How do I turn off auto previews?

I hate that when I'm scrolling to find something to watch it automatically starts a preview of whatever I'm on. Is there a way to turn that off?? I've looked all through the settings and can't find any way to do it.
