Doorbell (wired) works but no lights

Installed a wired Nest doorbell. Doorbell rings but doorbell does not light up (Blue, yellow, etc). Previous doorbell was 16v and according to specs should power the new doorbell. I have checked all wiring and reinstalled 3 times. Help!
