Can you take a nest learning thermostat and and move to different room without reprogramming?

I can’t get a thermostat to program in a room, says too far fromassisting nest. So can I take one from another room that is already programmed and move it into that room and use the connection from first room to program new one?

Wire connections

I have a heat pump system and my current thermostat has a wire connection at the Y/Y2 terminal. I also have a Y1/W2**, but no wire is connected. Should I connect the wire at the Y/Y2 connection to the Y1 on my Nest?
