Nest Thermostat E compatibility with 3rd Gen Heat Link

Hi, I currently have a Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Gen with its own Nest Heat Link installed. If I buy a Nest Thermostat E, will it connect to the existing Nest Heat Link? (i.e. it will not need to connect to its own Heat Link E). Thanks
