Help connecting Wi-Fi to nest thermostat

I am having some issues connecting my Nest thermostat to WiFi. The setup code is on back of thermostat and I cannot remove thermostat from wall, i love in an apartment.

Installation Orientation

Can the Nest Thermostat base be installed horizontally? I know it kind of defeats the purpose of the leveling bubble, but it would be nice to get one of the screws into solid wood (a stud). Thanks in advance.

Nest thermostat

Hi is see two jumpers here. I am looking for the solution. I can use the blue wire inside the wall for a common. But in 36 years of electrical experience I don't recall seeing the Y and the W with a jumper. Your thoughts?
