Cooling Set Temp and Actual not in sync

Thermostat cooling set at 76 degrees. Cools to 76. Then temp in house rises to 77 degrees and cooling doesn't start automatically. No other sensors in the house. Why doesn't thermostat trigger AC to turn on?

Nest v3 thermostat with older heatlink

My old nest v2 thermostat broke down unfortunately so we bought a new one. The new one is v3. Can I simply replace only the old base and thermostat and keep the old v2 heatlink? Or do I need to install the new heatlink as well?

Nest heat link second gen
